even more amazing:
he’s doing this without getting to pitch against Mike Moustakas or Der®i/e©K Robinson.
I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at Driveline Mechanics.

It gets even better.
From the Chukar’s blog:
“Chukars starter John Lamb retired the first 14 Great Falls batters before giving up an infield single to Jordan Cheatham in the fifth.
However, Lamb picked Cheatham off of first base and pitched through seven innings without allowing another base runner, then Richard Folmer pitched two perfect innings.
In all, 27 Great Falls batters stepped to the plate, and 27 Great Falls batters found their way back to the dugout after making an out.
Lamb struck out seven Great Falls batters."
that is absolutely amazing!

Wow, Great news here.
The last wave of pitching prospects largely busted once they hit AA. When the Naturals opened last season with Rosa, Cortes, Blake Johnson, Pimentel and Wood in the rotation I thought that was one awesome group. It really is disheartening how bad that all has gone over the last 18 months. I would have expected at least three of those guys would have been filling ou the Royals middle relief corps by September 2009.
It is hard to be a Royals fan.
I somehow have more hope for the current wave now in A ball. Hope springs eternal.

The flameout/bust rate in the Royals organization is higher
….and it isn’t necessarily the players’ fault.
