Royals Lose Again, Fall Thirty Games Under .500
Someone get Dayton Moore a key to the city. He's earned it.
47-77. Trust the process.
And remember, this was supposed to be a win now season, hence the lack of rebuilding trades the last two years.
Actually, to be fair, other than the needless flameouts by Bale and Wright at the end of the game, this wasn't your typical Dayton-ball loss. Meche was ok but in a blah way and Soria had a rough night. The offense was even halfway decent. Still, another loss. Another loss.

Yep, they look as much alike as 2 generic white guys can
Or even the original guys in the picture.

I missed it. Sort of like waking up after a colonoscopy with no recollection of the whole procedure (Process).

so… why did we bring in our closer before he was warmed up? We do have an 8 man pen.

I posted a fanshot, but
I believe that 2009 will be the season, when we look back 25 years from now, as the year that baseball really began to die in Kansas City.
Still a sliver of hope for the future, but it’s beginning to become apparent that DM will not be successful here. This season is like a nuclear bomb dropped on the KC fanbase and I have my doubts that it will ever recover. Whomever Glass brings in next will have to deal with a Wal-Mart budget and the shenanigans that went on during the Baird regime.
Thanks, Dayton, not for just fucking things up, but by doing it in such a spectacular fashion that the owner will NEVER spend nearly this much money again.

hard to say
with the new K and a winning season in 2010, i think it would bounce back…
by Will McDonald on Aug 25, 2009 7:27 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
you missed the sarcasm font
i’m assuming. a winning season in 2010? DM would have to pull two rabbits and a rabbit’s foot out of his ass to be that lucky. Nearly every position on this team can be upgraded significantly, and for those that can’t, those guys need to be traded to fill the gaping holes in this team.
Really man, it’s hopeless I’m beginning to think. Unless the Royals just went and spent $125 million and went crazy overboard (it still would blow up a la the 2008 Mariners probably) it’s not going to get any better.

This team can contend in 2010
This year was only lost because of the injuries

you are just mad. don't think for a minute that baseball ever dies in this town.
fans will continue to show support. they will just demand changes. “fire dm! and fire hillman!:” and the like. but they’ll still be around. We’re just weird like that.

The game wasn't a total loss.
Remember when it was 3-3 and someone was on second with no outs? Mitch sac bunted him to third, and Yuni drove the guy home with a sac fly to RF. That was so perfect I almost cried.
Seriously, I though Ryan was going to cry. Fundamentals!
We suck.
by hippdoghipp on Aug 24, 2009 11:50 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I wanted to cry because it worked
Giving up outs isn’t good. Maybe Mitch gets a single there, runners at 1st and 3rd, no outs, and the Royals go on to score a bunch of runs? Instead we got 1 more. Boo.

Worst team????
I doubt it. That award has to go to the 2006 team. But, this team is close. I am now down to keeping 8 players and shit canning the rest. We need new blood and a leader with some clout. I seriously doubt that we will win 50 games by Sept 1st. That means that we will have to win more than 12 games in Sept. to not have another 100 plus losing season. Can’t be done and so I see the Nationals over take us and relinquish the title of “Worse team in baseball.”
We suck and Buddo is not around to blame it on.

yeah, this team has en embarrassing number of losses
but it never seems like we lose in embarrassing fashion. well, we do sometimes. our bullpen is the difference between us being below average and possibly being the worst team in baseball and because of that i don’t feel like being average in 2011 is overly optimistic (kinks in process aside).
by 9il on Aug 25, 2009 12:48 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
What are you talking about?
The bullpen blowing lead after lead, night after night, is not embarrassing? It’s not get hit in the back with a cutoff throw bad, but it is Josh Anderson misplaying a single into a Little League inside-the-park homer bad.

My friends here in the Twin Cities
were laughing at me yesterday because of the Royals. I was already pissed due to the extreme lack of effort this past weekend. I just about put my foot through the fence at softball. My wife had to come over and tell me them to leave me alone (I had thrown the fit to end all fits after the game Saturday night). We must get extra points with God or something because its HARD being a Royals fan. Blow up the team except for the nucleus (who that is exactly is arguable). Anyone in Arkansas thats worth anything gets promoted to Omaha and we just forget about next season and get as many decent young people on the roster as soon as possible. I can’t take this crap anymore. I’ve been a fan for 35 years and these guys are killing me.

This isn't the worst Royals team ever
But it is far and away the most spirit crushing one.
by kcbottom9th on Aug 25, 2009 12:51 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Yep
I expected them to be godawful in 2006. I expected them to win 75-78 games this year. That is soul crushing.

I haven't been following our record for quite some time
and I thought this headline was just hyperbole.
This, coupled with my first day of law school, is quite depressing.

We need to cut loose 3 more relievers
why the hell we’re keeping relievers on this team that Trey misuses or underuses is beyond me. When you get in Trey’s doghouse, you’re never coming out. That’s one of his worst qualities. But this team is old, overpaid, and uninspired

I had free front row tickets behind the KC dugout for this one....
the seats were great….outcome, not so much. However, both were expected. I feel so blessed to have been in attendance for tonight’s monumental game (30 games below!)

umm....hard to tell, since i was right on top of the KC dugout
If I stood up I could see down into the front railing……on a few of the big Cleveland HR’s I peeked down there and our bench guys (extra pitchers, Coco, Aviles, etc) didn’t even move….they appeared to be silent shell-shocked statues.

The only thing that I care about the rest of
this year that that Grienke wins the rest of his games and gets a chance at the Cy Young award. It is looking dim now because the offense has let him down. This has to be the most underachieving team that I can remember.
by BlueBloodRoyal on Aug 25, 2009 8:02 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
or losing to ensure the top pick?
Its to the point where i want this team to be the worst team as long as it takes to fire Moore’s ass.
I hate that guy. I don’t know who’s worse at his job: Moore or Mike Jacobs?
