Game 128 Open Thread - Royals (49-78) at Mariners (66-62)

Kansas City Royals at Seattle Mariners, Aug 28, 2009 10:10 PM EDT

Brian Bannister against King Felix. Sure, it doesn't look good, but as this is a rivalry game, I think we can throw out the records, the pitching matchups, everything.

I predict a game-winning, upper-deck, grand slam by St. Willie.

From Poz's last post:
They are also — and I admit this is an unofficial stat but I’m pretty confident about it — the league leader in times a player forgot the number of outs. The other day, catcher Miguel Olivo ran off the field with two outs which was staggering not because it was unusual (it has to be the third time this year Olivo has forgotten the number of outs) but because only two batters had come to the plate. It wasn’t like it was a long inning or something.

Not only did Olivo jog off the field after 2 outs. Later in the game he threw down to 3rd after a strikeout with a runner on 2nd. It almost took Teahen’s head off. Good thing he’s playing over Pena again.

He can get 4, NOT 5.

not sure

something’s wrong with him, but he hasn’t been able to heal/fix it so far this season

he’s almost certainly not this bad, and his contract is reasonable (although a team like the Rays needs really good contracts)

don’t know much about the prospects

maybe the idea is that this money might allow them to extend Crawford, although they’d probably be best off trading him, too, at some point — he has serious value

Chipolte’s current ad campaign involves people describing their ideal burritoes. If only we could get them to feature Zack Greinke explaining his favorite kind of burrito.
