I can't believe there isn't a Cubs affiliate...
I thought the Cubs had an affiliate in any city over 10K
Desperately hoping for Desperate Measures
The Indians PA affiliate is in Erie, which is in the funky panhandle of PA that divides New York from Ohio and gives PA some lakefront property. Erie is closer to Cleveland than it is to Pittsburgh by about two dozen miles; one can easily imagine that neighbors and perhaps even families in Erie are bitterly divided between Pirate and Indian partisanship.
The Orioles have affiliates in Carlisle, Hanover, Lancaster, Shippensburg, and York, all closer to Baltimore than they are to Philadelphia. Each was visited by one or another of Lee’s forces during the Gettysburg Campaign of 1863, which, if he had been able to extend it, would have moved on from the Pennsylvania farm country to toward Baltimore and Washington.
The Yankees PA affiliates are in Easton, Towanda, Mount Pocano, and Williamsport. I have no idea why, because why anybody would want to listen to John Sterling and Susan Waldman call a ballgame is a deep mystery to me.
The Pirates have an affiliate in Erie also, just 70 kHz up the dial from the Indians’. I don’t know what picture anyone else is getting, but I’m seeing two cars stopped side by side at a red light, one an old Charger with the radio tuned to the Indians’ game, the other an old GTO tuned to the Pirates’, both engines gunning, waiting for the green.
