Tyler Sample is quietly having a very productive season compared to last season's 0-5 record with a 9.00 ERA. This year, he's 4-3 with a 3.13 ERA over 54.1 innings between Rookie-Arizona and the Burlington NC Royals. Opponents are hitting .203 and he has a solid 2:1 K:BB ratio averaging just under a K/IP.

i'm not as big a fan of him as most
hopefully, the great fastball/curveball combo we heard about at the time of his drafting turns out to be legit, but his performance this year has been merely decent. he has something like a .229 BABIP and a 3.8ish FIP.
i think the "not as big a fan" line
might not convey my opinion of him accurately. i just hope his performance improves as he moves forward.

but we knew he was a project. he’s made massive improvements this year. of course he has to continue to improve though. probably in the 15-20 range for me. maybe a tad lower.
