Signing Stephen Strasburg Bigger Than Any Trade Deadline Deal For The Washington Nationals
Also, a more recent article from the Nationals SBN blog saying that there is no news on the Strasburg front since the ESPN report saying that the Nationals were not on pace to sign Strasburg.

just because they haven't started signing yet?
one bit in the Federal Baseball blog post was about how the Nationals hadn’t even talked to Strasburg as of a week or so ago.

Its just how these negotiations go
Neither side has much of an incentive to make the first move until right up against the deadline. This happened last year and the year before that. No one talks til a few days before the deadline, they exchange figures, things get heated, and at 11:59 on the deadline, a flurry of guys sign.

if by 11:59 you mean
12:01 (for the Pirates and GMDM)

Well, this is Boras they're dealing with
Waiting until the last minute might not be an awful strategy. That way he can’t go running to the press and use all of his usual stalling tricks and publicity whining. If they offered him a $50M contract on the spot right now, he would still go to the media, whine about it, and not sign until 11:59
I don't know. His big name guys are perfectly happy to go to Independent ball.
I would think engaging them in talks at this point would be best for both sides. Selfishly, I hope they don’t sign him as there will be at least 2 studs next year at the top of the draft in Harper and Strasburg, plus whoever else comes out. Maybe the Royals can actually snag one, assuming they draft anywhere from #1-5.
