Lunchtime Royals Links: Grass Creek Edition, With a Programming Note

I'll be mostly away from the site for the rest of this week, as I'm headed home for my brother's college graduation. Rough timing, since it's the week of this is Mariners-Royals week. All the game threads are ready to go, but I don't have any overflow threads lined up. So please be aware of that.If something extraordinary happens, or is about to happen, like Kyle Davies throwing a no-hitter, will someone please email me.

congrats to your brother on his graduation...and have a safe and fun trip back home

….meanwhile, I’m headed to Canton for DT’s induction this weekend! So we’re both celebrating, just for different reasons!

Another congrats to your brother and hoping you and yours

have a fun and safe time too. I just read the Royal Authority link that you posted and I am shocked. It agreed with my Call me Crazy post on RR. I am hoping someone on the Royal staff is listening but probably not because they are too buzy dancing.

when I read the Wilmington line-up

I can see a hand full of them playing in the majors in the not too distant future (2 years?)

BPs "Peak" translation for the current Blue Rocks roster

these are based only on the current years stats at Wilmington. Yes, they are speculative… EqA is their older “all-in-one” offensive stat that is scaled like AVG. .260 is always average, .300 is really good, etc.

    Order:
Name, Age, BA, OBP, SLG, EQA (remember, this is all a speculative projection of their peaks

    Chase_Fontaine 23 .270 .357 .432 .270
    Johnny_Giavotella 21 .256 .358 .392 .267
    Jeffrey_Bianchi 22 .280 .340 .418 .266
    David_Lough 23 .287 .328 .443 .264
    Mike_Moustakas 20.261 .313 .456 .260
    Clint_Robinson 24 .256 .305 .380 .237
    Joshua_Johnson 23 .273 .320 .318 .231
    Paulo_Orlando 23 .245 .281 .372 .230
    Eric_Hosmer 19 .240 .283 .380 .227
    Derrick_Robinson 21.231 .282 .311 .219
    Jamar_Walton 23 .239 .292 .326 .215
    Nick_Van_Stratten 24.196 .245 .348 .208
    Anthony_Seratelli 26.220 .271 .302 .203

Well,I got tired of editing it down… keep in mind that Hosmer barely has 50 ABs so far at Wilmington, so don’r freak out on that… but overall, this doesn’t look like a very intimidating group. For reference. Alex Gordon’s EqA last season was .276 — which above average overall and good for a 3B, but I don’t think that’s the “peak” we’re looking for… yet it’s higherth anyone at Wilmington’s current year peak translation.

I don't understand these fancy statistics and numbers, but

I just think that in about 10 years, we will be looking at this list and saying “Wow, look how many future all stars, golden glovers, and MVP’s were on that roster.” Really

are you really that interested in seeing costa play?

he’s awful….the only thing he has on any of those guys is that he’s cheaper….his upside is probably lower than gathrights…so was his performance

    but with no Gathright,

J.P. Howell would have still been pitching for the Royals instead of the Rays.

He can get 4, NOT 5.

    no

anymore than I’m interested in seeing Bloomquist, Freel, or Josh Anderson play.

2010 Draft Order (Updated) " Andy Seiler's MLB Draft Blog

#2, always #2. Just bad enough to be awful, but just good enough to miss out on David Price and Tim Beckham.

NEWS FLASH: KYLE DAVIES HASN'T GIVEN UP A HIT!!!

Of course, he hasn’t thrown a pitch yet, either.

    Sorry… couldn’t resist.

So, I'm now a fan of the Washington Nationals.

Go Nationals! Give the Royals another #1 overall pick to blow monumentally.

Even if the Royals pass them

they’ll get 2 and 3. Not bad. Although, if the Royals get #1 they probably take Harper, and screw the Nats out of either stud. But they wouldn’t sign him anyways right? I mean, word is they won’t sign Strasburg, so why would they sign Harper? If the Royals don’t pass the Nats, and get pick 3, at least they are guaranteed Strasburg will be there as the Nats can’t draft him again without permission from him and his agent. So currently, the Royals are in position for a stud.

BTW, if Harper or Strasburg are there and the Royals don’t take one of them, I will quit as a fan. It’s that simple. I have a feeling that the Royals are about to go back into Glass’s cost-cutting mode, and I won’t stick around another 15 years and watch it while they eat my soul.

Hey what's the website link I saw on here once that you link

to snidely tell someone to go google it themselves? Something have you heard of google.

I’m aware I’m setting myself up for it to be used on me. Oh the bitter bitter irony.
