I bet Bob was disappointed when he opened up a twitter feed and learned to tweet in anticipation of an eventful trade deadline… and this is the kind of “news” he gets to break!

for those of you wondering
our batters are now
Olivo (RH), Pena (Better as a RHB, attempts to bat LH), Buck (RH), Butler (RH), Jacobs (LH), Callaspo (Switch hitter), Betancorpse (RH), Gordon (LH), DeJesus (LH), Sporkquist (RH), Gathwhite (LH), Maier (LH), Teahen (LH)
6 LH out of 13 offensive players. And we’re gonna DFA a RHB (Freel) to bring up a LHB when we could option a LHB (Maier) instead.

Um, so what
70 or so % of all pitchers in the league are RH, so it makes sense to have more LH bats anyway. Not to mention that Maier is starting to show some progress @ the MLB level w/ the Bat, and Freel is 4 years removed from being worth bitching about..
Lets face it though, you would have complained about it no matter who was DFA’d…
BOOM! ROASTED!

Our only RH Outfielder is Willie Bloomquist, we're facing 6 LHP in the next 7 games
and Maier only showed progress (5 for 14 means something!!!!!!!) because he was facing RHP, not LHP.

Again, who gives a shite
about the next 7 games? Are those 7 games going to cost us the division?
Chances that Maier turns into a productive 4th OF’er for KC in the future? – 25%
Chacnes that Ryan Freel turns into a productive 4th OF’er for KC in the future? -0%
You, for like the 20th time this season, are making a big deal about ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
BOOM! ROASTED!
I think having Freel at zero percent for becoming a productive 4th outfielder is a little high

It just shows that we overlook somethings sometimes...
Just like LOOGY/ROOGY matchups…

is it possible for Freel to be the PTBNL in the Freel deal?

It is actually
It has happened before – Harry Chiti comes to mind. I think Dicky Noles too. Rob Ducey as well.

In 1962, the New York Mets traded backup catcher Harry Chiti to the Cleveland Indians for a player to be named later. Who was that player? Harry Chiti, traded for himself.

At least you know you're getting fair value.

I didn't not like Freel.
I didn’t think he was the save all, but he seemed to be a player that could make things happen at times.
We have worse on this team than him…

I hope he accepts an assignment!
That way when Teahan is out for the season with a back issue we can bring him back.
I Will Always
Remember him climbing the RF wall like Jimmy Piersall going up the Fenway Park backstop as a HR landed 30 feet beyond the fence and his headlong dive for a ball that landed 6 feet away and rolled to the wall. Don’t worry about Frisbee; he’ll be OK. If he never sets foot on a baseball field again, he did this:
2001 Toronto Blue Jays $200,000
2004 Cincinnati Reds $320,000
2005 Cincinnati Reds $405,000
2006 Cincinnati Reds $1,300,000
2007 Cincinnati Reds $2,325,000
2008 Cincinnati Reds $3,000,000
Career (may be incomplete) $7,550,000
And that doesn’t include this year’s haul. He was born 3 days after my 21st birthday and he’s made far more than I will in my life. At least we didn’t give him much.
I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.
I will always remember his gritty attitude
and clubhouse presence….Goodbye Mr. Freel, we hardly knew ye…

has Anderson been added to the ML roster?
I thought I read that Sir Sidney was DFA’s for Davies, not Freel.

Not sure exactly who replaced who
From what I understand:
Now on the team:
Davies, Anderson, Waechter
See ya later:
Ponson, Freel, Colon

But only Freel is gone, Farny is still in KC, right?
