Time for some call-ups?

Some quick facts:

-Kila Ka'aihue is hitting .267/.405/.466 in Omaha.

-Our DH is often a catcher.  Our catchers can't hit.

-Jordan Parraz has hit a cumulative .351/.435/.551/.986 this year in the Minors including .303/.351/.455 in a short stay in Omaha so far.  His career Minor League numbers are .294/.381/446

-Jose Guillen is hitting .245/.317/.371 this year while playing insanely bad RF defense good for a -18.2 UZR.  Yes, that's a -36.1 UZR/150 pace.

-Chris Hayes a 1.89 ERA this year between AA and AAA.  His AAA ERA is 3.00.  His season FIP is 3.18, and in Omaha, it's 3.16.

-I can't make this short enough to avoid wasting words trying to express how bad our bullpen is.  Everyone knows.  Let's try it this way--Kyle Farnsworth would be the second best member of the bullpen, but he's injured.

Star-divide

Now to be clear, the purpose of this post is not exactly about screaming, "Let's call these guys up right now!" because I don't think there's any chance at all that Parraz will replace Guillen as the everyday right fielder in 2009, and I'm not even sure it would be the right move.  Rather, this post is about asking the simple question, "How much better would the team be if these adjustments were made?"

I think it's safe to say

that as bad as this team is, it can be upgraded quite a bit, and all it would cost is swallowing some pride regarding the Jacobs and Guillen signings.

...and perhaps

acknowledging that ‘The Process’, is something that can change, and should change in a situation that is a) chaotic and b) unacceptable

I'm all for giving Kila and Hayes a chance.

However, I wonder if GMDM isn’t calling these guys up to try and keep the stink from this season from those guys. If they get called up and struggle this year, that already leaves a bad taste in the mouth starting the next season. Whereas, Guillen, Jacobs, and the entire bullpen are already in the bag of shit.

Speaking mainly from the fans POV.

He can get 4, NOT 5.

Might as well get them use to losing in the big leagues now

could one argue that
Let’s try it this way—Kyle Farnsworth would be the second best member of the bullpen, but he’s injured.

could just be re-written to say that Kyle Farnsworth is the second best member of the bullpen, even though he is injured?

I think there are a couple of advantages of call ups right now

1) they couldn’t be any worse than what is there in some instances (noted above)
2) having them on a 25 man roster would force Trey to play them, whereas if they are called up in September with the expanded rosters, he can always use the excuse of not being able to get them into the game, everyone needs to play.

NO we can't do this

it might make the team better and we need the top pick to be good despite Moore.

It is our only chance sadly

I think

regardless what we do, we WILL overtake Nats.

Guillen is already out for the year

But, still, why would we want Parraz if we have Anderson and Freel?

Shealy?

Is Shealy hurt again? He has a great line in 108 at-bats at AAA. .345/.454/.425. He also has a nice BB/K ratio of 18/25. He can play a plus 1B, or DH.

Maybe I should give up on him. I have been bullish on him for about two years longer than was Dayton Moore.
