One More Zack Greinke Stat: 0.43 ERA to Close The Season
In his last six starts, Greinke's ERA is 0.43. If you go back one more start, you get his sublime 15 strikeout performance against Cleveland, in which he allowed a *terrible* two runs. In his last seven starts, his ERA is 0.72.
Pitching for a horrible team, in front of a horrible defense, against one of the toughest stretches of the schedule, he's turned it on.
I know ERA is a problematic stat, but it's damn near impossible to have a sub 0.50 ERA if you aren't, well, awesome.

But CC has a win streak......
And wins are way more indicative of awesomeness than some overvalued stat like ERA. Let’s face it, if Zack pitched for the NYY, he’d be 4-23 with a 6.35 ERA because he lacks the intestinal fortitude. If CC pitched for the Royals, he would be 25-0 with a 1.23 ERA because he would see the need to step up his game to cover his teammates failings. I don’t understand these random posts about Zack that insist he’s some sort of special player. It’s all because of his low stress environment, where he only pitches against teenage girls. CC has real grit.

Two goals for the last start
7 IP with 0 ER would lower ERA to 1.99
7 Ks to tie, 8 Ks to beat Dennis Leonard’s season record for a Royal

The greatness that is Zack, can be compared to the following;

…but this is still isn’t as awesome as what Greinke is doing, it would be like……..I don’t even know.

If he didn't suck from June to August
he’d be poised to break Gibson’s ERA record

No Cy Young for Greinke
Sorry Royals fans, but Greinke is not deserving of the Cy Young award. While I acknowledge that he has had a very good season, he will NOT win the Cy Young award. I, as most voters likely will do, will vote for Sabathia 1st, Verlander 2nd and either Hernandez or Greinke 3rd. Why? Greinke has not won enough games, his team is barely .500 in his starts and more importantly, he has not won any meaningful games all season, while Sabathia and Verlander have. It is easier to pitch with no pressure, as Greinke has done, than with a playoff spot on the line, as Sabathia and Verlander have done. Nice job Greinke, but no Cy Young for you. All you lame Royal fans who have already given him the award, get a clue. Stop buying into GMDM and Hillman’s line of crap, the Royals are an awful team and will not contend in 2010 (even with Greinke). No Royal player (or the team for that matter) is deserving of a post season award. Without any good players ( outside of Butler), Greinke will never win any individual awards; unless the team drastically improves. I do not see any improvement in the Royals any time soon.

It must be stressful for CC
That terrible lineup the Yankees have makes it hard for him to pitch. 7.84 runs support must be tough for CC to compete. The thought that you don’t have to be perfect since your team will score runs sucks! But I thank Peter Gammons for posting on RR!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, obviously...
but here’s a RR article from a copule weeks ago that touches on your argument. It’s a bit dated by now but a lot of the arguments still apply.

Will you come back and post here after the award is given?
So we can say “I told you so?”

I doubt he ever looks at this site again...
He signed up for SBNation yesterday and wrote his post minutes later. Seems as though this guy has gone to other Royals blog sites to write the same thing.

I wonder what the Yankees' WinPct is in games that CC doesn't pitch?
Oh, what’s that? It’s about the same both ways? Really? So if that’s true (and I’m too busy to look it up), how valuable is CC?
