They are all sunglasses
And the future is so bright, he has to wear all 3 pairs at the same time!

How is his catching?
And it’s exciting he started so hot. Wasn’t the talk pre-draft that he was pretty raw and would take a long time to move up the system? Seems to be putting that idea to bed.

it will take a while to get the whole "walks" thing out of his head
Moose is obviously more advanced, didn’t need as much work adapting to the organizational hitting philopsophy. and he’s also a great leader!

Pioneer League is the lowest rung
Don’t start thinking he’s ready for Arkansas just yet.

I am aware of that
But i read in more than place pre-draft that he might spend a couple of years in Rookie Ball before moving up. He came from a very weak private school competition, and was raw anyway. From what we have seen so far, that won’t be the case unless his catching is horrific, in which case move him.

So you're saying that
If he’s in Burlington next year that’s more than could have been originally expected of him? Didn’t realize that.

he was one of the more polished bats in the entire draft
it’s just that his defense was raw.
he’ll be in Burlington (IA) to start the season next year barring injury or whatever.

well to be fair
the Arizona league and even Burlington (NC) are lower rungs.
he’s playing against mostly college players and 2nd or 3rd year HS players in the Pioneer league.

catching
I was watching the stealing and caught stealing stats and it looked like guys were running on him. I don’t think he’s thrown anybody out yet.
go royals

Proper technique can be taught there
It may also have been the pitchers not being able to hold runners yet at that level. If you take just a little bit too long to throw the ball, minor league teams will run all over you.

Terrific news
Small sample size, but encouraging nonetheless.

We should bring him up to the Royals already!
162 runs and 108 walks would be awesome!!!@@!

His catching
I thought I noticed where he already has commited several passed balls as well.
Obviously, nothing to be too concerned with yet – as I believe blocking balls should be a teachable skill, and PRESUMABLY coaches in the Royals organization should be able to teach that better than whatever coaching he may have had in high school.
(And yes, I realize that coaching at the ML level has not helped Olivo with this skill yet…..)
