Some Good News
Jose Guillen is shutting things down for the season. I don't cheer for injuries, but I'll happily accept an excuse for SOMEONE else to play. (This goes for our bullpen, as well.)

I agree that one never wishes for people to get hurt
but I am not sorry to have him sitting out the rest of the season. Maybe he can still get into fights with teammates.

so, are we going to carry a 3 man bench until Tuesday?
Dayton, you can call someone up!

it will be interesting
To see what excuse they use for not calling Kila up, now.
My guess: “Gordon isn’t healthy enough to play the field.”

it’d be interesting if he really deserved a call up.

we value OBP too much to have that kind of number on our team
we prefer to sneak up on it

he might be a better option that jacobs
but he’s done nothing to earn a call up.
his MLE: .213/.326/.335
f’in awesome!!!!!!!!!

Unless you count last year, which we don't
I’d be friggin depressed. What’s a guy got to do to get a shot around this dump of crap players?
So you're saying that all Kila has to do to get playing time for the Royals
is to be five years older and a free agent?
minorleaguesplits has decent MLEs, but as you know there are always issues with MLEs being either too positive or too negative do to selection bias. There’s also the issue of just using one year of any kind of data.
Better to let it play out and see what Jacobs can offer.
Kila’s 2009 DT MLE (not that they’re any more or less authoritative than minorleagusplits’, just to show a different interpretive perspective):
.242/.375/.418

i'm not saying he doesn't deserve a shot
just that we shouldn’t really expect much if he does get one.

like maybe the same thing Jacobs has provided for about
3 million less?
I used to work with an old man that told me. Son, every workplace has a dumbass, if you don't have one where you work, then I'm afraid you're it.
Not that I wish ill health on Guillen, but I think this is good news for the organziation. Guillen being out almost compells the organization to promote an outfielder from Omaha next week. It will also open up more at-bats for Kila, should the Royals bring him up as well.
Peronally, I wouldn’t mind seeing Lubanski given some playing time in September. What the hell. The Royals have to decide if they are going to offer him a contract this off season or let him walk. Might as well see if that first round pick was a complete bust or if it might still pay off in some small way.

Lubanski is done? I knew he was down for a while but I thought he had come back.

nah
we’re gonna play a Bloomquist/Anderson platoon in the outfield
Graduate with a B.S. from the Dayton Moore School of Stats Analysis
How is that a platoon?
Bloomquist: “Okay, I’ll suck four days a week. You suck the other three. That way one of us will always be well rested for, well, to do absolutely nothing at all well.”
Anderson: “Great!” ’Wait, why do you get to suck more often than me?"
Bloomquist: “Seniority. You gotta earn your playing time on this team. When you’ve learned to play horribly the right way then you’ll see more time on the field.”

Closing action
Both Bloomquist and Anderson laugh and high five.
Bloomquist dives into some mud. “Look at me! I’m gritty!”
Anderson runs in circles really fast. “Look at me! I’m speedy.” He falls down.
