Fantasy Playoff Advise Needed

I'm about to start the semifinals of a fantasy league playoffs; league is points based. Playoff period is 2 weeks, but can change lineup after the 1st week. Anyway, starting 5 pitchers, and I'm actually thinking about benching Greinke due to the vagueness of Hillman saying they are gonna give him an extra day or two or rest this week. My options to replace him would be Mark Buehrle or Max Scherzer. Key info is that both Buehrle and Scherzer start tomorrow, meaning they will get 2 starts instead of 1. The league gives +10 for a win, <5> for a loss. There is also 1 point for each out, 1 for each K, <1> for each hit or BB, and <3> for each ER.

Am I nuts? How can I bench the best pitcher in baseball? I'm frustrated because I can't find confirmation ANYWHERE on when Zack will actually make his next start. (I could KILL Hillman for leaving him in for 125 pitches last night for no damn apparent reason)

Make sure you don't say that while working.

I used to work with an old man that told me. Son, every workplace has a dumbass, if you don't have one where you work, then I'm afraid you're it.

Take my advice with a huge grain of salt as I finished 10th in our league.

I would start Buerhle. Chicago has been hot lately and since movind Dye to DH actually have been offensively motivated. Getz is back so their infield defense should improve too. Good luck in the playoffs…

Dye hasn't played for a few days because he's hurt

and I’d start one of the two start guys depending on matchups…..probably leaning towards Scherzer

You HAVE to start Greinke

yes you are crazy for considering it

No he isn't.

In a weekly matchup, you are better off with the pitchers that can accumulate more Ks and wins. The double dippers are your best choice. Take the 2 start pitchers and bench Greinke til next week, when you can start him twice. Besides, it’s not like the Royals will get you a win out of it. That’s what I would do, and it’s what I tried to do to get extra points here in the last week of the RR league, but I still came up short. Greinke’s not a bad start in place of Buehrle, but if you can get the extra start, I think I’d take it.

My league news claims Zack will pitch against Cleveland

instead of Detroit. That is good news. He has also been pitching well and seems pretty focused. I have him active on my team, for what its worth.

Might be to late but you start the guys who give you the most starts.

Especially if they are decent as both seem to be. Grienke won’t be super sharp in his next start as the 230 + over two starts rule comes into effect. Hopefully you go with your gut and it works.

Damn it!

I ended up leaving Greinke in – should have played Buerhle, apparently.

Made up for it though – activated Butler from the bench, taking the place of Brad Hawpe, who is slumping.

Ahead 114-65 after day 1. That’s a real good start, considering opp had a SP going today and I did not.
