(Purely Theoretical) Dejesus to Yankees?
Note: this is not news. It is something posted for fun in the absence of news. it has been so dead the last week, why not?
Some Yankees blogger speculating that DeJesus might be a good fit for them in left field. They don't do their homework on the Royals minor league system. So, what say you? What would need to happen to make this trade viable for both clubs? Is there a match?

I don't see a match
If Montero is untouchable, then the Royals would need Gardner to be included in the trade. This, of course, would fill their LF hole and open up a 4th OFer hole. Maybe they’d be ok with that, maybe not.
Quite frankly the discussion of the trade in the link is a joke. They basically want to get DeJesus for a couple of C prospects. The Yankees third or fourth best catching prospect isn’t very exciting or valuable. Similarly, the pitching prospects they mentioned aren’t that great (lots of future MLB relievers of suspect quality). This looks a lot like the very common type of trade proposed by a fan. “Let’s see how I can get one good player for a handful of ok prospects.” Thanks, but I’m not interested.

I would want Gardner and Romine
…if they need a 4th OF, we’ve got Brian Anderson
I remember saying at some point....
That I would want two solid prospects for DDJ (or one elite and one solid prospect, which would be too much for David, I will admit).
With that perspective in mind, reading that blogpost was the funniest thing I had seen in days (and that includes the copy of The Onion’s Our Dumb World that my sister gave me for Christmas). I would say there is no way in hell that Moore trades DDJ for a C+ level catcher and a C level, massively overpaid likely reliever who is still bouncing back from TJ surgery, but then again, it is Dayton Moore. But in a sane world, no way that happens. I’m with nwroyal—I’d flip DDJ for Gardner and Romine (maybe Romine, Melancon, and Gardner with a B-/C+ throw-in from us to even things out) . Montero may be untouchable, but that’s okay, people are saying he isn’t going to be able to stick at catcher anyways, and we’re set at 1B for however long Billy Butler is around. There isn’t anyone else in the Yankee’s system who I’d really want—Heathcott could be interesting in a year or two if he is as toolsy as advertised, and John Sickels likes Melancon a lot, but trading DDJ for a reliever and a low minors catcher would be a waste.
Honestly, the funniest part about this blog post is how much this guy overrates the NYY farm system. Montero, Romine, Manny Banuelos, and maybe Melancon or Zach McAllister are the only legit prospects the Yankees have ATM. Our farm system is in better shape right now, despite Moore having traded away Cortes and Saito for He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named. Montero is a much better hitting prospect than anything we have, but we have significantly more depth in our farm system—I’d say we have 8-9 legitimate prospects, the Yanks have maybe 5 or 6 at best.
I'm with you on overrating the farm system
It’s almost as bad as a commenter on MLBTR that suggests we give away Meche for the Mets’ bad players.
Anyway, I agree that the conversation starts with Brett Gardner (though not enough alone). We have been talking about moving DDJ for a while. Would you trade a plus LF for a plus CF and lose some offensive capabilities. Given our other LF options (Callaspo and Fields, according to DM), it might be a good move, especially if you get something else in return.

Far and away the best line is
Another area of concern for Kansas City may be pitching and the Yankees still seem to have a surplus.
Riiiiiiiiight… I mean once you get past Montgomery and Melville and Duffy and Crowe and Rosa and Arguelles and Lamb and Dwyer and Herrera and Hyaenga and Sample and Wood… hmm…
I refuse to set up a signature....DAMMIT
I wouldn't trade DDJ to the Yanks
for anything less than Montero probably would’ve done it for Vizcaino and Romine if they still had the young righty. In reality they should’ve traded for Meche and DDJ and seen if the Royals would’ve given up the two of them for Vizcaino and Montero. I would think that trade would’ve intrigued us(and GMDM) because it would’ve been a nice salary dump and pickup of solid young prospects.
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
That would only have worked if KC would've taken on more of the Meche deal than the
Braves did on Javiers
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
I'm all for trading DJ
But I don’t see a good fit with an organization without minor league depth like the Yankees.
