Wow.
This is…unexpected. I wonder what moves are coming with the current roster.
CHONE projects him as a 1.1 WAR player
So for the first year, this is technically a good financial signing. (I’m assuming if he sucks the option for next year will be declined so I’ll ignore it for now.) If he replace Guillen in RF, it’s an upgrade both offensively and defensively. He’s no Gutierrez with the glove, but he’s certainly better than Guillen.
Basically, I like this move if the corresponding move is to dump JoGui. Still, seems like the Pods signing was a waste no matter how you look at this…
The prediction
Looks like they are not predicting much of a recovery from last season…so it could be a strong upgrade. However, the projection also changes if he plays the corner OF. So…don’t know what to think.
Anyway, it will be interesting to see if anyone gets moved in the next week.
Holy smokes.
At this point, is it safe to say that not all of Moore’s off seasons pick ups can make the team? Fields has to be out, right?
I hear that a lot.
But I think it’s wishful thinking. Too much money for Moore to admit a mistake. This seems too much like trying to get enough legit or supposedly legit pieces together and hoping for a miracle.
Actually, I have no idea what is going on.
I'm just thinking of the alternatives
Pods was just signed, so he’s not going.
B. Anderson has an option remaining, so not him.
Dejesus could be traded, but not likely – no rumors and favorable contract.
Fields is making the minimum and has decent upside and plays several positions.
Maier was basically slotted as the 4th OF anyways.
That leaves Guillen, but yeah, it’s just a guess.
There was a rumor
that Moore expected to have trade interest on DDJ closer to ST. Doesn’t really count, i know. I hope you’re right, but I just can’t see Moore making me that happy.
Yes!!!
Just when I think Dayton is braindead, he turns around and makes a deal like this. I absolutely love this move. We needed offense and I believe Ankiel can give us that. I know most will complain about this one, but Ankiel will put some butts in the seats. Great move.
Yes, I'm still alive. Sorry to disappoint you.

who's going to come and watch him?
Don’t fall for the hype he still mysteriously has……

Exactly
He is very much a St Louis story. Nobody else cares about his pitcher past (or TLR being a dick).

if he does indeed replace Guillen
than i too really do like this deal. he’s the Bedard of position players. solid defense in RF + good power upside.
baseball rules.
I just don't think that Guillen is part of the equation
moving him to DH is only half the problem
I think DDJ is gone by monday
