The Rockies signed Olivo for around 2 million with a 2.5 million option with a 500,000 buyout, or basically 2.5 million for one year or 4.5 million for two years. So we declined an option on a player for 3.3 million (700,000) above market value. By not taking that risk we missed out a possible 4.5 million draft pick with about a 1 to 6.4 cost to benifit ratio, and wasted an additional 6 million on Kendall. Discuss.
