OT: Royals Review Keeper League Yr 3: Congrats to NYRoyal

2010 was the toughest year yet in the RRKL Fantasy Baseball league.  11 teams finished with above .500 records.  Six teams had a legitimate shot during the last week to take the final playoff spot in the championships.  Sisquatch Kids made a great run at the title only to be stopped by NYRoyal in the championship game.  Congratulations to NYRoyal for taking it all.  As ADM commented in the playoffs winning or losing hinged on whether you started a marginal pitcher or not.  Thumbs up to all the managers who participated and stuck it out until the end.  The last month was a killer with games being decided by a point or two.  Yours truly finished eleventh and had a 122-116-14 record.   The Winter Baseball Meetings will start in December and I am sure that all the returning managers are looking forward to the start of Year 4 of this tough hard core league.

We do have several orphaned teams for this next season.  If you think you are good enough to compete against the likes of NYRoyal, AxDxMx, Raef, Marbot, JQ, Sisquatch, and other RR regulars then send me an email.  My email is on my profile.  The deadline will be November 30, 2010.

The Final Standings are below:

*1.   NYRoyal 138-93-21
*2.   Sisquatch Kids 128-108-16
*3.   AxDxMx Buttheads 138-96-18
*4.   Raef Slugger Hotdogs 140-87-25
*5.   Gordo's Cowboys 133-100-19
*6.   Average Gatsbys 125-106-21

8.   Focs 128-111-13
9.   Royal from Queens 122-109-21
10.   stram#1 119-118-15
11.   Grudz96er's 122-116-14
12.   JasonM 117-122-13
13.   Marbot Exterminated! 113-120-19

That league is a lot of work

It was nice to come out on top. It’s a real marathon.

While .500 might sneak me into the football playoffs, it would only be good for 12th in the baseball league.

Not if we're getting rid of the inactive teams

Their records were bad because their counting stats were low each week.

I am still in shock that I found my way into the playoffs...

I fully went into the season building for the future.

Oh and just want to make sure you got my keepers.

E-mail Grudz

I think he fills openings with first come, first served, and then puts others on a waiting list in case there are drop outs later on.

is there any reason

Grudz couldn’t use those waiting list guys to take over teams that he locks out mid season?

I really wish that was possible...

because it happens every year. No matter how hard I ride some managers to check their teams some just drop out. It would be great to replace them with people from the waiting list.

If you switched over to ESPN you can...

It would be a lot of work, but might be worth it in the long run.

Hold on a minute...

We had 5 orphaned teams and they are gone. I posted at 1:10 and by 4 pm. had 10 emails for the entrance into the league. I will email everyone and put their names on a waiting list to see if anyone drops out before the season or for next season. Thanks for all the interest.

I like the idea of expansion.

Push the league back up to 20 teams. Hell, I’d be fine with 22 teams. The deeper the league goes, the deeper the managers have to go to find productive players for their rosters. I like that a lot.

The problem with expanding now...

Is that you are hand cuffing new teams with few real quality players left. Im all for weak competition…. Unless we were to have some sort of expansion draft for new teams to get up to the amount of players the teams with keepers have.

And I think 18 teams is deep enough

It still takes lots of hunting to find replacements for injured and poorly performing players. And I hate expansion drafts where we have to sit on our hands for the first six rounds.
