Wait a second, actual information that relates to Zach Greinke?
Changing agents = Zach Greinke extension is imminent*! Screw Montero, Gardner, Romine, Cano, and a few throw-ins, we’ll keep Greinke forever!!!
*Complete speculation. Must make own fanshot and quote myself
This could go either way.
But mostly, it looks bad for the Royals I think. You don’t change agents if you like what the last one did for you, and I think he’s really regretting the extension, and has hired new agents to pester the Royals into a trade, and/or he needs some bulldogs working out his new contract with the team he has a no trade clause for.
Close also represents Derek Jeter (awesome job, Casey!) and
Alex Gordon, as well, last time I checked.
Maybe Alex pulled a Moose/Hosmer on Zack.

Impossible to speculate as to why he made the change
Nonetheless, I imagine Zack looked around, saw the FA contracts that are being given out, and regretted extending with the Royals. Maybe he’s tired of being dangled as trade bait for so long. But that’s too much speculation already.

If it was a money thing (ie, what Zack could have been getting on the FA market this year)
then why not switch to Scott Boras instead of Casey Close? I don’t think anything in baseball says “show me the money” quite like having Boras represent you…
Idle speculation: Greinke wants an extension to waive his NTC to go to the Yankees and Close is better positioned to negotiate that (he represents Jeter).

What About "Poll"
Does not imply a great conflagration?

Normally people switch when they’re getting ready to go after a new deal. I’m sure Zack understands that if he’s dealt to a team on his NTC he should only waive it for an extension, and if it happens to go down that way he wanted a different agent than last time.
