Plate Discipline in Video Games

I was playing a touch screen cell phone baseball game/app and something strange happened - I drew a walk.  I thought back on it, and despite my criticism of my favorite team's lack of focus on plate discipline, I have none.

I had always found that in video games I had more success against the good pitchers.  Why?  The good pitchers throw strikes, the bad pitchers don't.  Since I swung at just about everything, the 'bad' pitchers who threw out of the zone more often were more likely to strike me out or draw poor contact.  I thought about it some more and man, I'm Miguel Olivo up there.  Anyone else have this problem?
