Super Bowl Open Thread
SB Nation is having a massive Open Thread.
Just be sure to click the little auto-refresh button.
Or you can post here. For reasons I can't fully explain I'm filled with cynicism and bitterness heading into this game. As a football game, it's lined up to have the potential to be a classic, but who knows.
All I know is that the Steelers or Patriors CANNOT win this year, and that's a good thing.

I had to go down
to this pseudo-Irish pub called the Michael Collins to watch the game with a buddy of mine. Started at midnight on Sky TV, which of course I don’t subscribe to at home. I just got home at 4 AM after spending about twenty euros on Guinness.
Pretty good game, perhaps not one for the ages, but a good Super Bowl not decided until that late New Orleans pick off Manning.
It's pronounced Poo-ZHOLS in Catalan.
felt like a weird game from about the second quarter onward
i know this is a cliche, but it reminded me of the video games i usedto play
one team lost b/c they missed a field goal and threw an interception
yeah
the game just seemed to happen…at times quite unremarkably.
Didn’t feel like the Super Bowl, or at least what a Colts-Saints matchup could have been, especially because these teams were undefeated like 12 weeks into the season and it seemed like an epic matchup.
I think both defenses are to blame for this.
They both see high powered O’s in practice everyday and seemed to implement the bend, don’t break Defense and hope the Offense messes up. I love the long drives, but they just sucked a ton of time off of the clock.
Any game that shows Peyton on the sidelines squirming around waiting to get in the game is a good game.

Hail Purdue!
No Guinness here. Boulevard Smokestack Series, imported to the Chicago area at Christmas.
Drew Brees joins Len Dawson and Bob Griese as Purdue quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl.
I realized I couldn’t be a sportscaster when after the deciding interception all i could say was “It’s over”.
Great game.
Pitchers and catchers report in a week and a half.
After the half-time I believe that some lyrics desperately need to be updated if the original artists insist on continuing to play them ...
… and I offer the following:
I said I know it’s only kidney stones
But I passed ‘em.
I said I know
it’s only kidney stones
But I passed ‘em
passed ’em
yes I did.
Well
I passed ’em
oh yes
I passed ’em
I passed ’em
I said: Can’t you see this old boy’s finally got relief?
This solves all of New Orleans problems
The city is rebuilt! Hallelujah!

I noticed the commish
didn’t mention anything about how he was planning to move the team to LA after Katrina.

I won the pool...
I got in late on the pool and thought the Saints winning by 14 was a sucker move. They were playing the touted Colts defense and Peyton " I am god" Manning was walking on water this season so I thought I had wasted $50.00. I think they heard me in Des Moines yelling and screaming like a mad man when Manning choked and threw that interception. The victory scotch went down very well and tonight I will go pick up my winnings. Come to papa big money…..
I lost $6 on the night
Although I picked the Saints, no one wanted to bet, which seemed odd to me, since, you know… it was a Superbowl party, and there were even some semi-Colts fans there.
…but as The Who launched into their first number at halftime, I predicted that a guitar was going to meet it’s fate. Half the room jumped in to bet against me (a buck each.. yeah, these are high rollers). Townsend really let me down on that one.
Then, at the end of the third quarter, I actually announced that the outcome of the game would be determined by one key interception, and I was willing to take wagers on that point. Once again, no takers, and I was left with my halftime debt.
Okay, my number one sports desire has now been fulfilled.
Now it’s the Royals turn.
Kansas City Royals: your 2006 and 2007 NL Central champions!
