Royals Go Cheap Again

As was mentioned earlier the KC is going back up on the back of the Royals Scoreboard. Leave it to the Royals however to make it as cheap looking as possible. Instead of a blue background with the giant white KC, the Royals have gone with a large KC in front of the ugly metal panels. Take a look for yourself. Steven Stewart mentioned today that more than any other question this offseason people have asked him when the KC was going back up behind the scoreboard, so obviously this was something important to Royals fans. Once again the Royals drop the ball.

Cheap yes...

But I kinda like the way it looks.

I love this time of year.... The Royals are always in first place!!!

Why must they ruin everything I love?

I realize the new shape presented some problems with the size of the letters (which are too small), but they really couldn’t have painted the panels blue and made the letters white? Really?

That seems like a more appropriate name.

Would there have been any problem with keeping the giant screen cool?

I am trying to think of a good reason why the wouldn’t do it like it used to be, which everyone liked. I can only think of the above, but that kinda doesn’t make too much sense.

How dare you call us cheap!

Sincerely,

The organization who cancelled the Negro League game one year

Mr Glass, this is a pro sports team, not a retail store - run it like one!

They really should upgraded the fountains, too.

A mini version of the fountains outside the Bellagio would have been really nice.

Toby is in HR, which technically means he works for corporate, so he's really not a part of our family. Also, he's divorced, so he's really not a part of his family.

From what I understand

Since they are vents to cool the jumbotron, they cannot be painted? Not sure if that’s true or not, but I have read that from other posters.

Sun heat prevention?

If I had to take a guess, they went white on it to reflect sunlight as opposed to dark which would absorb it and perhaps cause overheating / less lifespan…

just my immediate thoughts when i see it…and in honesty, I think it looks WAY better white with black lettering. From a distance, i bet that KC REALLY will stand out on a sunny day much better than white would.

Sun heat prevention?

I thought David Glass had the sun blocked out

Still waiting for them to paint over the exposed gray concrete

hey, maybe they’ll find some cash to blow on a painting armada

Ralph Wiggum would be a better GM than Dayton Moore

Screw that

I’m still pissed about CrownVision eclipsing the old incandescent scoreboard.

Have we no sense of nostalgia?

I know, I know….money, blah blah….

" It would be fairly easy to accomplish."

There’s the easy way, and then there’s the Royals way.
