Game 8 Overflow Thread
Nothing brings out the passions of a real baseball fan like a Mariners-Royals game. So much history. The subtext you get in a single inning could fill sixteen weighty tomes.

It really says a lot about the Royals following.
I love this time of year.... The Royals are always in first place!!!

Indeed it does. Classic Royals fans. No patience!
In all honestly, I’ve been really pleased with the way Dayton has gone out of his way to retract saying that. The first time I heard him take it back I heaved a long sigh of relief. I was like, “OK, I can work with this.”

yes
i’d rather follow when the games don’t really count

Royals fans - worst in the nation
They only follow games that don’t count.
hate to break it to you
they photoshop most everything of everything (although I suppose a college calendar is more on the low-budget side, so maybe they’re somewhat exempt)

OT - Will, what is D.C. like on St. Patrick's Day?
I might be there on Wednesday night.

Disclaimer: I do not advocate the murder of anyone, HOWEVER...
I think a great movie would involve a psycho Kansas City Royals fan inviting Kendall, Betancourt, Pods and Guillen to a made-up fan party thing where they’re promised $20k apiece…then when they arrive, this psycho fan is sitting there with a creepy grin on his face, in an auditorium all by himself, Guillen is like “what the…”, they all look at each other, bloodshed ensues….
The people of Earth unite in solidarity, along with this younger, better lineup, to will the Royals into contention. You could call it “Royal Hope: Tragedy At Hale Arena” or “The Battle Royal” or “Short Circuit 3”.
Just an idea.

Probably should gun down
the FO and ownership instead of the players. :)

sort of like Celtic Pride
(I think that’s what it was called) except instead of kidnapping the other team’s good player, do what you said….
my made up title would be True Blue

Cortes pitching
All of Grass Creek sitting on the edge of their seats right now
That seems like a more appropriate name.

Oh Danny how you have been forsaken by the mighty
KILA !!!
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
bittersweet for GMDM
on one hand, Cortes looks less good. on the other, the ever-ignored Kila looks more good.

Me neither
but likely hanging flyball that dropped
It was essentially an OF error
He should have caught it but didn’t, so Betemit had to hold up.
That seems like a more appropriate name.

It was a misplayed ball by the right fielder from what the radio announcer said
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
Pods would have scored
of course he would have been doubled up if the outfielder had caught the ball

Cortes getting let up!
If only Yuniesky would get beaned by him… Who am I kidding, Yuniesky would probably swing at it anyway.

score the 2 runners
that belong to him and blow up his ERA!

Vance Wilson and Brian Anderson
Disagree.
I think Mitch makes the team now…
Aw forget it
2nd & 3rd with only 1 out, and nobody can get a ball out of the infield……..

Brian Anderson looks a little like Sloth

More relevant for us
Three rundowns? Really?
That seems like a more appropriate name.
by CentralChamps20?? on Mar 12, 2010 5:20 PM EST up reply actions
Three.
Betemit was in one and tagged out on Anderson’s hit, then Anderson was caught in one, then Falu was moving up to third so they threw to get him and missed. Like a circus out there.

Enough of this guy already
We know he’s going to AAA. Just get it over with.
Bringing in the lefty to face right handed batters..
Treyball.
Go Royals!
Just thinking
What does Kila have to do to make the team out of ST? He’s now 4-12 with 2 HRs and a walk. Does he have a realistic shot?
What would it take roster-wise?
Release Guillen? DFA Yuni? Waive Fields? Don’t we usually start the year with 4 starters?
I think so
It is dependent on Josh Fields, I think. He can take that spot, especially with Gordon likely out at first. Then you have Kila, Bloomy, Maier and Pena as the backups.
The trouble is
When people get healthy, he won’t stick.
He will if he hits
It’s hard to send someone down if they’re pulling an Aviles.
But what if it is him
and Aviles? Do you send Getz down when Aviles is healthy? And Gordon? Then you have to send him down (or DFA Guillen).
I like the idea of keeping Fields and Kila up
until Gordon returns from his broken nose. sort of a month or so tryout (small sample size > no sample size) and the better hitter gets to stay

Not room for both
without bumping and established player.
The Trouble Is
We went out and acquired players we didn’t need so we have to get rid of players we already had. That sounds logical

And Falu had an apparently great diving play to get Ackley’s hit for an out.

Is it just me
Or did Roman Colon become a decent pitcher?
Perhaps all the late innings?
You think they might be grooming him for that 8th inning role?
I Always Thought
His stuff was good, but he was prone to making bad pitches. A common problem.
