Game 9 Lineup vs Angels (3/13) - 2:05 CT Start Time

No big news about the team today.

If you haven't already, check out this article on Disco Hayes. It's old news, but it's still interesting.

The Around the Horn blog has some good pics of the new KC logo for CrownVision and some B game updates. I usually get my B game updates by following that blog or some of the several front office employees of the Royals that post updates on Twitter.

Star-divide

Unusual lineup today against the Angels at 2:05:

1. Bloomquist - LF

2. Callaspo - 3B

3. Butler - 1B

4. Guillen - RF

5. Fields - DH

6. Betemit - SS

7. Maier - CF

8. Kendall - C

9. Getz - 2B

P - Banny

Fields Probably Would

Be better in RF than Hoagy at this point.

I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

by philofthenorth on Mar 13, 2010 2:20 PM EST reply actions

That IS unusual

Why is Kendall batting so low in the order? Who the hell is managing this team??!

by Crooow on Mar 13, 2010 2:36 PM EST reply actions

Maybe

they hired someone who understands batting orders when we weren’t watching.

by MinnesotaRoyal on Mar 13, 2010 2:38 PM EST up reply actions

You Can't Bat

Bloomers leadoff and follow with Kendall. Gotta spread the grit around.

I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

by philofthenorth on Mar 13, 2010 2:42 PM EST up reply actions

Betemit at SS

Might actually be worse than Yuni.

by kcbottom9th on Mar 13, 2010 2:59 PM EST reply actions

Banny

0.1 inning pitched, 1 K.

At this rate, he’ll have, like, a lot of strikeouts.

by Crooow on Mar 13, 2010 3:08 PM EST reply actions

Why is Callaspo runnin? Billy miss a hit and run?

I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.

by kcscoliny on Mar 13, 2010 3:15 PM EST reply actions

butler just got jobbed

brutal strike calls according to gameday

-

by slayor on Mar 13, 2010 3:16 PM EST reply actions

Actually

we weren’t that bad. Last year we were caught 29 times versus 88 steals. The Angels were caught 63 times versus 148 steals. We’re not that bad, but it seems like it because we don’t steal much to begin with.

by MinnesotaRoyal on Mar 13, 2010 3:19 PM EST up reply actions

It must just be the low attempts...

or the fact that they get so few base runners, it feels SO much bigger when they get caught stealing.

by RoyalsRule on Mar 13, 2010 3:27 PM EST up reply actions

I think so

because they had about the middle ground for number of steals in the MLB, but were 7th overall in steal percentage. Not bad, but it just means they steal few enough times that it makes it seem even worse when they’re caught.

by MinnesotaRoyal on Mar 13, 2010 3:46 PM EST up reply actions

Cleveland, Minnesota, and Seattle were also worse, just from a quick comparison.

by MinnesotaRoyal on Mar 13, 2010 3:20 PM EST up reply actions

Between DDJ And

Poddy we could catch them this year.

I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

by philofthenorth on Mar 13, 2010 3:24 PM EST up reply actions

good two innings for banny

2 k’s and all groundouts, run aside

-

by slayor on Mar 13, 2010 3:23 PM EST reply actions

3rd Inning

seems to be the problem. Getting smoked by no-names.

by MinnesotaRoyal on Mar 13, 2010 3:33 PM EST up reply actions

eh

8 swinging strikes in 44 pitches
6 groundouts, 1 flyout

i would rate this as a successful outing, their hits were very well timed

-

by slayor on Mar 13, 2010 3:39 PM EST up reply actions

Amazingly, It Sounds

Like they really miss Hoagy

I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

by philofthenorth on Mar 13, 2010 3:26 PM EST reply actions

19 pitches through 2 innings

and we’ve struck out 3 times and gotten a hit

amazing

Matt Stairs News

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=jp-stairs031210&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

The 42-year-old Stairs slipped into workout gear affixed with the San Diego Padres’ insignia. Baseball’s greatest nomad has worn more logos than Pepsi. If Stairs makes the Padres’ opening day roster, it will mark his 12th major league team, the most for a position player and testament to his unparalleled staying power.

I Remember Marble

Incredibly, Rice’s ‘89 championship team was beaten by UAA in a midseason tournament in Utah. UAA used to be able to recruit because of the Shootout, but they changed the rules so the Shootout isn’t the big deal it used to be.

well at least with MLB 2K10 it just doesn't throw that many balls...

I really only swing at maybe 7-10 pitches out of the zone a game. If you sit there and take every pitch you will get K’d on 3 or 4 pitches every at bat.

Maier needs to be our opening day CF.

If Hillfart had a brain he would play Pods and Anderson less and let Maier get his swings. 2 HR’s, 6 RBI’s not bad for this early in spring. I was hoping to catch the ninth but it was to quick of a game.
