Game 9 Lineup vs Angels (3/13) - 2:05 CT Start Time
No big news about the team today.
If you haven't already, check out this article on Disco Hayes. It's old news, but it's still interesting.
The Around the Horn blog has some good pics of the new KC logo for CrownVision and some B game updates. I usually get my B game updates by following that blog or some of the several front office employees of the Royals that post updates on Twitter.
Unusual lineup today against the Angels at 2:05:1. Bloomquist - LF
2. Callaspo - 3B
3. Butler - 1B
4. Guillen - RF
5. Fields - DH
6. Betemit - SS
7. Maier - CF
8. Kendall - C
9. Getz - 2B
P - Banny

Fields Probably Would
Be better in RF than Hoagy at this point.
I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.
Maybe
they hired someone who understands batting orders when we weren’t watching.

You Can't Bat
Bloomers leadoff and follow with Kendall. Gotta spread the grit around.

Does any team in MLB get caught stealing more than the Royals?
"Losing is a disease..." - The Natural
Actually
we weren’t that bad. Last year we were caught 29 times versus 88 steals. The Angels were caught 63 times versus 148 steals. We’re not that bad, but it seems like it because we don’t steal much to begin with.
by MinnesotaRoyal on Mar 13, 2010 3:19 PM EST up reply actions
It must just be the low attempts...
or the fact that they get so few base runners, it feels SO much bigger when they get caught stealing.
"Losing is a disease..." - The Natural
I think so
because they had about the middle ground for number of steals in the MLB, but were 7th overall in steal percentage. Not bad, but it just means they steal few enough times that it makes it seem even worse when they’re caught.
by MinnesotaRoyal on Mar 13, 2010 3:46 PM EST up reply actions
I think it's the overall lack of total baserunners so when one gets
erased it feels worse
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
Cleveland, Minnesota, and Seattle were also worse, just from a quick comparison.

Between DDJ And
Poddy we could catch them this year.

good two innings for banny
2 k’s and all groundouts, run aside
-
3rd Inning
seems to be the problem. Getting smoked by no-names.
by MinnesotaRoyal on Mar 13, 2010 3:33 PM EST up reply actions
The no-names don't realize that they aren't suppose to get hits off major league starters
I love this time of year.... The Royals are always in first place!!!

Amazingly, It Sounds
Like they really miss Hoagy
I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.
19 pitches through 2 innings
and we’ve struck out 3 times and gotten a hit
amazing

Sporqie Now 2-2
And hasn’t gotten it out of the IF; that’s what I’m looking for in a LF/leadoff hitter.
I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.
good for Mitch he'll make a nice 4th of'r somewhere
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
That'd Be About
Right for Mitch to breakout with, say, the Rangers while Poddy breaaks out in hives for us.

Getz out of the slump with a HR ! That's a way to do it. Lucky #13
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
Turns out that
the E in Jordon E. Parraz is just his middle initial. Such insight from the commentary.
Matt Stairs News
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=jp-stairs031210&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
The 42-year-old Stairs slipped into workout gear affixed with the San Diego Padres’ insignia. Baseball’s greatest nomad has worn more logos than Pepsi. If Stairs makes the Padres’ opening day roster, it will mark his 12th major league team, the most for a position player and testament to his unparalleled staying power.

Glen Rice, Jr.
Is a freshman at GA Tech this year. I’m so old.
I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.
I'm a Iowa Hawkeyes basketball fan and Roy Marble Jr. will be a freshman next year
I named my dog after his dad. My dog died 6 years ago, I also am old.
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
I Remember Marble
Incredibly, Rice’s ‘89 championship team was beaten by UAA in a midseason tournament in Utah. UAA used to be able to recruit because of the Shootout, but they changed the rules so the Shootout isn’t the big deal it used to be.

Kila should start at 1b and Billy should DH.
But they won’t take the hit on Guillens contract
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
Yeah, They Should
Have Butler at 1B and Fields DH against LHP, too.

Kyle Parker is killing it for Clemson this year 3-4 with another HR today
.435/.536/.848 6 HR…Good QB and killer pop at the plate
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
Im hitting .417/.417/.938 with Billy Bulter in MLB 2K10... 15 HR's through like 30 games
I love this time of year.... The Royals are always in first place!!!

Ya I don't have any patience when I'm playing the computer either
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
I'd be interested
to find out whether or not real MLB players, when playing The Show or MLB, have the same plate discipline problems mere mortals do.
well at least with MLB 2K10 it just doesn't throw that many balls...
I really only swing at maybe 7-10 pitches out of the zone a game. If you sit there and take every pitch you will get K’d on 3 or 4 pitches every at bat.
I love this time of year.... The Royals are always in first place!!!

Fields Crushes One
But it stays in the park.
I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.
"9-3 Royals lead"
is a something we shouldn’t get to hearing more often this season when it starts we won’t most likely hear it.
I think I've heard that before
I’m just used to thinking “Farnsy will come in and blow it anyway” and often being right.
by MinnesotaRoyal on Mar 13, 2010 5:05 PM EST up reply actions
Just realized
no walks by Royals pitchers today. I’ll take it, even though there have only been 3 K’s.
2:10 WTF am I supposed to do now, talk to my wife?

Dangit
I was hoping they’d read my email:
_Hey guys,
Will Jason Kendall be batting 2nd in the order very often this season? I think he has that intangible “grit” that makes him perfect for that role.
Thanks!!
Carlton, Skokie, IL_
Maier needs to be our opening day CF.
If Hillfart had a brain he would play Pods and Anderson less and let Maier get his swings. 2 HR’s, 6 RBI’s not bad for this early in spring. I was hoping to catch the ninth but it was to quick of a game.
