Game 10 Lineup at A's (3/14) - 3:05 CT
The news today? There's no Guillen in the lineup. Kila gets the start at 1st and Billy goes to DH. Also, we get another day of Davies and Tejeda pitching.
Dutton has a good article on Soria's stay in KC this winter here.
And no matter how long it's been and how much I don't miss him being a Royal, I can't get used to seeing this yet.
Here's the Gameday link.
Lineup against the A's at 3:05 CT:1. Pods - LF
2. Callaspo - 3B
3. DDJ - RF
4. Billy - DH
5. Kila - 1B
6. Pena - C
7. Aviles - 2B
8. Yuni - SS
9. Dyson - CF
P - Davies

Interesting Lineup
I guess they thought it wold be good to Davies and Tejada some run support.
Hillman Believes This
"We’ve got to have him," manager Trey Hillman said. "Just got to. A reliable closer like (Joakim) is worth as much to your team as a reliable No. 1 or No. 2 starter. We’ve got to keep him healthy."
And this guy believes this:

Where is are all the negitive stuff? The Royals are quietly having a good spring. They contended last year untill injuries and did not have the depth to keep it going. They do this year. Mr Moore has done an unbelieveable turn around from top to bottom. Our Farm system is top 15 and climbing. My prediction is that we will when the divison, with 91 wins.

I think
A lot of people are cool with keeping him as a closer, but for health reasons. I kind of disagree, but I can live with that reasoning.
To say what Hillman said, that a closer is as a valuable as a top of the rotation starter (or even a back end guy) is something that I think next to nobody could subscribe too. That is entirely the WRONG reason to keep him in the pen.

Trey Hillman, ladies and gentlemen, he’s here all year. Remember to tip your waitress.

Dayton probably roots for Yuni more than he roots for his son (if he has one). Its gonna take a lot for Betancourt to lose that job, no matter how good Aviles plays. Any semblance of success from Yuni would validate Dayton. And Yuni wouldn’t actually have to be good, just keep that batting average above .250 and make a few lack-of-rang webgems. Dayton could hang his hat on that for quite a while.

maybe they’re letting davies hang himself or in some other way proving a point to him? Hard to justify making him the 5th starter if he’s going to do stuff like that. I don’t know. Totally just making stuff up. It’s not like I understand most of their decisions so I probably shouldn’t guess at their movtivations.

I mean, they’re talking about expanding it to 96 teams next year. F**k ’em.
The fact that the AP and coaches poll, for instance, doesn’t take into account point differential is absurd. A #1 team that beats Cornell by 2 points should be viewed as “not having done well”, in other words.
