Around SBN: Roy Nelson Willing to Pay for His Next Opponent's Drug Test

Already the white flag has been raised and it comes in the form of Aaron Crow’s demotion to Northwest Arkansas....I hoped the Royals would at least be considered a serious baseball team until July, but this decision should eliminate hope for 2010.

Say what?

Not that there is a lot of hope for this team for 2010 but the demotion of Aaron Crow is a GREAT thing not a bad thing. There’s no need to rush him to the MLB this fast. He’s barely pitched in the last year.

It's basically declaring that we want this guy to be ready when he comes up!

Will they follow that process? Only time will tell….

Bizarre post

Why rush a prospect to the majors when he’s not ready? So the team can win 75 games instead of 73 (and that is pretty much the best case scenario — it is more likely that Crow wouldn’t help the team much at all this year because he isn’t ready for the majors).

This is a shortsighted decision.
Um, could you explain that? That makes no sense at all. The Royals won’t contend this season. They won’t. So why rush a good prospect and burn up one of his years of team control? So that you can have hope? Now THAT would be shortsighted.

So...trading Teahen and sending Crow down shows the Royals don't care about building a winner?
Trading one of their most reliable players for a couple of washed out prospect-the Mark Teahen for Chris Getz and Josh Fields trade-showed the royals weren’t serious about winning. What they were wanting is to be able to afford these players for five years, whether they are producing or not. Economics are a reality in baseball, to be sure, but when that is why moves are made proves why the Royals are nowhere near ready to seriously compete in major league baseball.

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

I guess we'll need to know his definition of competing Warden

I mean, they play the game so they competed, right?

Either way, this is a great move getting rid of Teahan even if we don’t like what Trey is going to do with his new “weapons”. It makes us better in the long run. Teahan was what he was…. and Crow not breaking the season with the big league team is the best thing for everyone.

I feel like this is Kevin Kietzman writing this

He said the exact same thing yesterday. Just days after he said the Royals weren’t going to be very good this year. Huh?

You're all wrong

Aaron Crow would be at least a 10 WAR starting pitcher this year, and that would have made the Royals contenders. Or at the very least a serious baseball team. Great post Trader Jack.

Sometimes I lay it on so thick

I figure I don’t really need it.
