Chad Gaudin - Yes/No?
Yankees' skipper Joe Girardi announced his decision to go with Phil Hughes as the 5th starter and use Joba Chamberlain in the bullpen, rendering Gaudin's services useless to the pinstripes, and he has been released. Especially after posting an 0-3 record and 8.68 ERA in four spring outings. Should a fringe candidate to make the Yankees' rotation as a 5th starter be a target for GMDM acquisition?

Yes, I've liked him for awhile now
And I don’t get why he keeps getting released. I’d let him compete for the 5th starting spot, and if he doesn’t fare well, he still seems to have the tools to be a ROOGY.

that sucks he had to shave it off
just to get released!
Are we the team to beat in 2010? I sure think so! Go Chiefs.
Might as well put the complete set out there
Tampa Bay

Talk about a complete set..........
I don’t believe that Gaudin is capable of pulling this type of quality.

Gaudin's gf and Pod's wife in the stands?
I’ll buy season tickets behind home plate!
Sign him up!
I would get him for the pen, starter no.

obviously he can't be a starter...
because he's not left-handed

Screw the chin mullett.....
the picture at the top makes that facial hair look like a WATERFALL OF FIRE, emanating from his mouth like some sort of DEMON 4A PITCHER FROM HELL.

Regardless of his pedestrian resumé,
on THIS team, he is a decided upgrade.
(I’m looking at you, Kyle Davies)
(Or, I’m looking at you, Kyle Farnsworth)
Or…
never mind – you get the idea
Mr Glass, this is a pro sports team, not a retail store - run it like one!
Yup.
Definite upgrade, sadly.

We need bullpen help too, so hell yeah.
He can’t be any worse than Hocheaver.
Yes, I'm still alive. Sorry to disappoint you.
Obvious pickup is obvious

yeah
and let me confess I didn’t realize that I am still a dumbass when it comes to transactions: he had a $3M contract, so any team that claimed him on waivers would have been on the hook for whatever was left on that. Dave Cameron pointed this out to me.
So he made it through and signed with OAK, I’m sure if KC would have offered him more money, heck, it’s more money. But while Gaudin’s useful, and wouldn’t be a h orrible pickup, he wouldn’t be a huge difference maker for KC, whereas Oakland has a legit chance at contention, so adding a good reliever/#6 starter (who is really a #4) makes sense for them, particularly given the injury concern guys on their staff.
