Royals, a winning future?
STEP 1.
Trade Zack Greinke to the Houston Astros for Hunter Pence, Jiovani Mier or Jordan Lyles and Jay Austin.
STEP 2:
Waive Jose Guillen, then release him
STEP 3:
Trade Kyle Farnsworth and stop trying to convince fans that this guy is useful.
STEP 4:
Commit to Kila Ka'aihue at first base, for at least 125 games. The guy can field and hit for power, but i guess the Royals feel they have enough of that already.
STEP 5: DeJesus / Maier / Pence - Slap the crap out of Hillman if he think DJJ in right is a better idea.
STEP 6: Let every single contract of a post 30 player fall off at the end of 2010.
STEP 7: In the offseason, so, September of 2010, prevent Dayton Moore from signing "more of the same" washouts and "maybe he can rebound" players and actually sign a player of two who CAN and WILL play.
STEP 8: Fire Hillman, Moore - Hire young, proven talent evaiuators and a skipper with a good track record of handling young players and lineups.
STEP 9: Sell the team to me.....or Mark Cuban.

A couple things
First, the key part of that Greinke trade (Pence) only has three years of team control remaining (including this one). And they are going to become increasingly not cheap. So this trade wouldn’t get the Royals any more years affordable team control than they have with Greinke right now (who is a better player). And the added prospect isn’t enough for me. Neither Mier nor Lyles is an elite prospect. Good prospects, but not good enough. I’d need Juan Castro.
Also, any plan for fixing the Royals must include trading/waiving/releasing Yuniesky Betancourt. All players with negative value must be excised like the cancer they are.

Agreed on the Greinke trade
ground rule for trading Greinke should be only trade him to teams with elite systems.
I like my TB trade better than that Astros trade
and I was just tossin names out there without actually thinking about it.
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
What do you guys
think about Hoch for Chris Young? The OF for the DBacks. Seems like both have more potential than they have shown so far. Hoch could learn the secrets of the sinker from Webb and Young could be a long term solution in the OF. Just a thought-not even sure if the Dbacks would be interested.
I would try to move Hoch to Colorado.
They need GB pitchers there and he would do decent.

No thanks
while Hoch has struggled Young is playing no better than Maier currently. Hoch doesn’t have much value but I think KC could do better than Young.
GMDM would probably make this move because of Youngs toolset
