Another decent lineup

Maybe switch Callaspo and DDJ, but I can live with this.

Other than Guillen playing RF, that is

On the plus side

Playing Guillen in rainy weather increases the chance of a groin pull for him.

It's raining where I am in Phoenix.

Of course, I’m not really that close to Surprise, but it doesn’t look good outside.

That’s the same forecast for me…in Kansas!

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

More weather notes...

since there’s nothing else going on.

Gameday says that the wind is at 27MPH WSW. Question does the “WSW” indicated the direction the wind is blowing from or blowing to? If they actually play, that wind is either blowing IN from right field or OUT to right field!

KCSportsPodcast.com ( website ) ( facebook ) ( twitter )

by conorjay on Mar 9, 2010 3:17 PM EST up reply actions

What?

I mean, if you start at the mlb.com main page, how can you get to the gameday links? I see slayor’s link above it, but I’m not seeing where he got it originally.

KCSportsPodcast.com ( website ) ( facebook ) ( twitter )

by conorjay on Mar 9, 2010 3:35 PM EST up reply actions

Here's how I got there

1) Google “mlb gameday”
2) Click on the first result “About MLB Gameday”
3) At the top of the page, there’s a scoreboard with all of the games. Click the game you want.

Going to the MLB.com page makes it much harder—you have to find the “About Gameday” page.

That seems like a more appropriate name.

but Major League Baseball puts fans at the bottom of their list. Right after the MLBPA.

The one in Denver

Had all kinds, it’s supposed to be a “Brazilian” steakhouse style. They roast meats on a spit and then bring the whole thing straight out of the fire pit to your table and slice it for you right there. Beef, lamb, pork loin, chicken all seasoned various ways. Plus you get a salad bar with some sides, too.

Too expensive to go very often, but nice for a special occasion.

So far

Nearly every free agent mistake has been exposed in this game:

Pods: CS, lack of LF range leads to fruitless dive
Kendall: one wild pitch, one inning ending strikeout
Ankiel: missed fly ball in CF

And I thought I’d have to wait for the regular season to see such vindication of the fan base’s ire.

That seems like a more appropriate name.

I don't think Royals pitches know the rules to the game

Your NOT suppose give up runs after your team scores the inning before.

Well, the

DDJ/Maier/Ankiel OF would be, so of course we see Pods/Ankiel/JoGui for at least the 2nd time in 5 games.

That seems like a more appropriate name.

by CentralChamps20?? on Mar 9, 2010 4:33 PM EST up reply actions

so, do we really need a 5th starter so early in the year? don’t they randomly hand out off days in April for no good reason?

Ralph Wiggum would be a better GM than Dayton Moore

We forfeit every 5th game

it would save our bullpen.

My previous thought of Dayton Moore’s a reasonably intelligent man, we just have a profound disagreement with regards to baseball philosophy is giving way to the new thought that he’s either stupid, delusional, or both.

Let's just trust the process.

What Took You

So long?

I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

by philofthenorth on Mar 9, 2010 4:36 PM EST up reply actions

I’ve been of the opinion that Moore needs to be replaced for some time. I guess my thought was that he would have been a fine general manager in the 1980s. But now I’m beginning to question that. It’s not just that he has a bad philosophy, he can’t even implement his bad philosophy.

I guess what I mean, is that the players he brings in won’t even be good in old school ways. No Moore-acquired player is going to hit .300 except callaspo, who Moore seems to hate. No Moore-acquired player is going to rive in 100 runs or steal 50 bases etc. Even his bad players suck.

Let's just trust the process.

Yeah, I Wouldn't

Mind an old-school approach too much if he could do it correctly.

Nice inning for Humber

Looked like he was locating the ball well and fastball was moving a bit. Only two other pitchers scheduled today (Colon and Bullington). Let him get another inning of work.
