Whats Miguel Olivo been up too?!?
After he caught Greinke's Cy Young season last year, He just called, and caught a no hitter from Ubaldo Jimenez.... I knew that kid would throw a No-Hitter someday

pretty ugly no hitter though
more walks than strikeouts
those kind of games are really more statistical anomalies than anything impressive to me
-
He struggled with his control
But then decided to pitch strictly out of the stretch and retired the last 15 batters, I still find it impressive because he has some of the nastiest stuff in the game and I don’t know if the others would have got a hit if he didn’t walk them
jiminez really is the nl justin verlander
if he can ever really get his walks down, it’s going to be insane

umm I'd take an "ugly" no-hitter any day
And he didn’t have more walks than strikeouts (6 to 7)….and all the six walks were in the first 5 innings. He was all over the place early but made an adjustment and turned it on in the last four innings. That’s the essence of pitching, not an anomaly.
It’s not like it was an AJ Burnett no-no when he was wild throughout. Extremely impressive.
The kid is a beast….

meh, i watched all nine innings
sorry, anytime a guy walks 6 guys in 9 innings, i’m not going to be that impressed, even if he gets the other 27 outs on 27 pitches

Olivo actually picked a guy off of base as well
Granted, I believe it was the opposing pitcher, but still. Olivo magic strikes again!
In other insane game news, the Cards and Mets are entering the 18th inning tied at 0-0. Speaking of statistical anomalies, Cards C Yadier Molina has led off an inning seven times in the game!!!!!!!!
And SS/2b/3b Felipe Lopez is now pitching for STL.

oh my....this game in insanity
Felipe Lopez is throwing 78-86 MPH Fastballs and 63 MPH curves. He’s facing the Mets pitcher, who gave up a game-winning grand slam to Lopez last night. The Mets P reaches on an errant throw by Brendan Ryan, but gets thrown out trying to advance to second when he doesn’t even slide after getting faked out by the Cards middle infielders covering second.
Two out…top of 18….Lopez walks Pagan and now has to face Mike Jacobs…….pitching out of the stretch….great stuff.

Classic Jacobs.
Huge chaw in mouth = check
Weak fly to RF against Felipe Lopez = check
Headed to the bottom of the 18th.

Olivo also had an unassisted caught stealing earlier this week.
caught a guy in a rundown in between 1st and 2nd and just ran all the way out to him and tagged him.

what the hell?
did the guy fall down and break his leg?
Ralph Wiggum would be a better GM than Dayton Moore
runners at 1st and 2nd
Jose Reyes at 2b, Luis Castillo at 1b…….pitch in the dirt……Reyes takes a few steps toward third and freezes…….Castillo breaks for 2b and gets hung up in between bases. Olivo runs right at him and eventually tags him out.
