NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What’s that? They made the better baseball decision? Oh. Huh. Nevermind.
Oh, wait, nevermind:
If Callaspo is unavailable, Willie Bloomquist looms as the likely starter Monday at third base. Hillman indicated he was unlikely start Mike Aviles under the opener’s amped-up emotional atmosphere.
I was sitting here asking myself, what POSSIBLE excuse could they come up with to NOT play Aviles on Opening Day if he makes the roster.
OH WAIT, THEY COULDN’T EVEN MAKE UP A REASONABLE EXCUSE, SO TREY JUST COMPLETELY BULLSHITTED IT!
-
I don't even think Aviles will be that good this year...
But seriously, Trey? Guy is a fan favorite from 2008, worked his ass off to make it back from major arm surgery, and you’re going to start a complete fking scrub over him in front of the biggest home crowd of the year because of..the amped-up emotional atmosphere?

-
He's talking about not starting Callaspo because of the amped up emotion, not Aviles.
And it’s because Callaspo would be batting from his still-healing side against Verlander.
Hillman indicated he was unlikely start Mike Aviles under the opener’s amped-up emotional atmosphere.
That is the most pathetic, BS justification.
Fuck I hate this team sometimes.

Well, with this shit organization
at least he’ll never have to worry about the “amped up atmosphere” of the playoffs.
Yes, I'm still alive. Sorry to disappoint you.

I wish he would take this same approach with Yuni
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
another great tidbit
Hillman also said he’s not ready to try Mike Aviles at third base as he comes back from Tommy John surgery, even though Aviles is the hottest hitter this spring among big leaguers.

then why is he on the team trey? why has he been playing 3b this spring?
-
Because Trey is a fucking moron.
Just when I was about to start giving them some credit for keeping Aviles, they go and blow the wad with dumbass shit like this. Why do I even pay attention to this team.
You heard it here first folks, Trey starts the worst lineup possible and the Royals lose 1-0 on a Greinke complete game. The lone run for the Tigers will be unearned off an error for Yuni or Bloomy at 3b.
When Gordon Is
Ready something’s gotta give. I’m afraid Moore will “solve” the problem with the rotation by trading Gordon for a 30-something starter who had a good year in, say, 2005? Or maybe someone like Adam Wainright, who had a good year but is projected to fall off sharply this year. A move to the AL could be disastrous for someone like him. I expect the worst.
I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.
The reaction to this happening will be interesting.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.
People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.
I couldn't agree more the only thing that could save him from that
is Alberto going on the DL.
I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.
The Stupidest Thing
About this situation is that it was caused by Moore’s perception of improving defense. Callaspo could play 2B with no Getz, or Getz as UI and Bloomers gone, or he could be in LF with no Podzilla. The defense would suffer some either way, but the team would be better. Meanwhile, Gordon is easily the best defensive 3B we have, and likely the best offensively, too.

As would I
I an about a millisecond away from completely abondoning the Alex Gordon bandwagon…if we can get anything for him, I’m in
BOOM! ROASTED!
there's a lot of player better than Alex Gordon who would be worth trading for Adam Wainwright
that’s not slam on Alex
I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at FanGraphs.

well, first off - it was the surprisingly right move to keep Aviles
now keeping him on the big league team but not playing him – that is more like it Trey.

Good to see he's on the roster
And if Betancourt ever gets hurt, he’ll be a good backup to whatever scrub Moore trades for to fill in. (My guess: Blake DeWitt)
batter nine you sucky
Does anyone else see serious parallels between the GMDM reign...
And the Bush administration?
Hey whats that, dont worry about that, well shouldnt… No you are wrong we are right…
Apparently Callaspo and Aviles are Evil Doers.

I thought it was more like the current
“Oh those results…don’t worry about that. That’s not a problem, here’s more money”
“oh that’s not our fault, it’s because we were left with nothing from the previous administration”
Could probably go either way and this definitely isn’t the place for it.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

Sorry. I can't help it.
My view on Royals GMs is also like presidential administrations. We haven’t had a good one since the 80s.

Grover Cleveland was quite a reformer.

No, he means the 1780s
and the Washington administration. It’s been all downhill since there.
