So its not just lateral movement... Its also lateral agility... Thanks Hilldawg for clearing that up.

I really shouldn't read comments anywhere but here.

Some assclown commented on the Aviles Makes the Team story to the effect of “Podsednik will hit .300”.

    stabbystabby.

Uh, he hit .304 last year

Not saying it will happen again this year, but REALLY with the “stabbystabby” stuff?

    - W. Bloomquist homered to deep center
    - P. Earth explodes

    Yeah, uhh...

Honestly, I think anyone who issues a blanket statement that a guy who’s played seven (mostly) full seasons in the big leagues, has a career .277 BAVG, and has hit over .300 twice (neither time over .314) WILL hit .300 this year probably does deserve to at least slice his finger open with a chef’s knife.

This team is probably better than last seasons but why do I feel worse about them

Pods ‘10 v Guillen ’09- Pods is better defensively and will carry a better obp 2010 wins
    Guillen ’10 v. Jacobs ’09 Guillen can’t be worse than Jacobs was 2010 W
Getz ‘10 v. Teahen ’09 Getz probably better defensively but maybe a regression offensively 2009
Bullpen ’10 v. Bullpen ’09 This version has to be at least equal unless Soria would get hurt 2010
Ankiel ’10 v. Crisp ’09 Crisp was better but also got injured early. Drop in talent 2009
Rotation ’10 v. Rotation ’09 Zack prob not the same but hopefully everyone else isn’t terrible like ‘09 of course Banni was good for 2/3 the season. Push
SS ’10 v. SS ’09 Aviles healthy could be an upgrade over 2009 Aviles/Betancourt combo but who knows when or if he’ll ever start. 2010

4-2-1 2010 Wins should be an interesting season

I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.

    The problem is

that you’ve given 2010 two wins which, combined, should actually be one push unless you assume Guillen ‘10 will be better than Guillen ’09… because quite frankly Pods ’10 vs Jacobs ’09 isn’t exactly swelling my little blackened heart with confidence.

    and Ankiel

could quite possibly be hurt as fast as, if not faster, than Coco was.

I really liked the article by...

…Mellinger. I hope he’s right in that the fundamentals practice will start showing. I can’t lie: at this point I’d love for us just be around .500 by Sept. 30. – TL

"Sir,--It has been wittily remarked that there are three kinds of falsehood: the first is a 'fib,' the second is a downright lie, and the third and most aggravated is statistics." *The National Observer* (June 13, 1891): p. 93-94.

    A wise man once said:

The talent on your ballclub is INVERSELY proportional to how much the fundamentals are practiced.

If you need to practice them, you definitely don’t have them, and won’t ever get them.

    Great quote

I think every year Dutton just uses the same template.

1999: “Manager Tony Muser To Emphasize on Fundamentals in Spring Training”
2002: “Manager Tony Pena To Emphasize on Fundamentals in Spring Training”
2005: “Manager Buddy Bell To Emphasize on Fundamentals in Spring Training”
2009: “Manager Trey Hillman To Emphasize on Fundamentals in Spring Training”
2011: “Manager Ned Yost To Emphasize on Fundamentals in Spring Training”
2014: “Manager Willie Bllomquist To Emphasize on Fundamentals in Spring Training”

    If that were to happen

I would hope I am long gone before 2014. That’s one story title I never want to hear.

Though the grit factor would be outstanding.
