Immediate fix for now and the future
Here we go:
Trade Podsednik - solid prospect, catcher, OF
Trade Dejesus - solid reliever - minor league pitcher - OF
Trade Kendall - bag of balls - kool aid - cup of sand
Trade Guillen - prospect, failed prospect, minor league journeyman
Trade Betancourt - low value - minor league reliever, PTBNL
Call up -
Irving Falu, Alex Gordon, Wilson Betemit and Jai Miller
Sign -
Eric Byrnes - Byrnes is a hustle player and probably would provide some locker room +
Elijah Dukes - Dukes is still only 26. Give him a year in Omaha, see if he really wants it.
Any free agent catcher
Lineup
Maier CF
Aviles SS/2B
Butler 1B/DH
Ka'aihue 1B/DH
Callaspo 3B
Gordon LF/3B
Pena C
Miller LF/RF
Falu / Getz 2B/SS
Byrnes, Betemit benched.
This lineup CANNOT be worse than the current.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Demote Hochevar to AAA - Hochevar needs to regain his confidence.
Promote Phillip Humber to KC - Humber has pitched pretty well in AAA.
Promote Bryan Bullington to KC - at 29, he deserves a look.
Rotation:
Greinke
Meche
Bannister
Davies
Humber

I don't know...
I think that lineup would be slightly better, obviously, with Gordon and Ka’aihue in there… but the bottom third still looks… wimpy.
My main problem is that I don’t think we could trade the guys you want to trade — scottypods wouldn’t net a prospect on his own… he’d likely have to be part of a package (in my opinion). Guillen won’t net us anything worthwhile and Kendall was probably our best option at catcher beyond Olivo or Buck… although they seem to be producing higher WAR values so far this year.
We’re not going to get a free-agent catcher at this time of year… at least not one better than kendall. Also, I think Eric Byrnes is playing softball with his buddies right now… laughing all the way to the bank to cash is Diamondback paychecks.
Your lineup would be slightly better… your rotation would be… the same, and your proposed trades wouldn’t really work I don’t think.
But I think we can all appreciate the sentiment of wanting something drastic to change on this team.

If Eric Byrnes is the answer
You’re asking the wrong question.
