Isn't this the big call-up news? A former #1 pick (2002, Pirates), toiling in the minors but now successful, and now 29 years old. - TL

No

It’s a big Royals prospect, involves two other moves, and is someone that hasn’t hit the majors yet. Oh, and hasn’t happened yet or Schaum could talk about it.

Bullington is really not...

…considered a prospect? I mean, he’s only made 10 ML appearances right? – TL

Not really

Just like I don’t really consider Kila a prospect. He’s a player that is capable of playing in the majors right now, though possibly not incredibly well.

Schaum knows who it is but just can’t say yet. I don’t think he’d be this secretive about it if it had already happened.

I don't think you can be a prospect

If you’ve been released three times

And you are 29

I agree on...

…the three times released, but not the age. I mean, a 29-year old pitching prospect could still play 5-6 years, depending on how much he was abused in the minors. – TL

But you are who you are by age 29

29 year olds don’t get better. 23 year olds still have upside, and are thus “prospects.”

Pitchers are at their peak (at best) at age 29

And you’re lucky if they can maintain that level of production for any length of time:

Well, even if this is...

…not THE BIG NEWS, I like it. I like the perseverance. Bullington’s story—-if he proves successful for us (unlikely)—-is a good one. – TL

Also, if it is...

…Moose, well, that explains why Gordon was suddenly moved to left field—-especially after GMDM made a big deal about saying that they’re still high on Gordon and see him as important going forward. – TL

Two reasons for Gordon's move

Gets Callaspo daily playing time and opens a spot for Moose, though some would say one or both of them should be outfielders.

I've been looking for the

how many times 2 former no. 1 overall picks have been on the same team story. Seems like it wouldn’g be many, but maybe I’m wrong.

Joe Mauer/Delmon Young

Griffey/ARod

Those are the two pairs that come to mind.
