AA Experience
Yesterday morning I decided to make the 2 hour drive to Springdale in order to see what we have down on the farm. Even though there was rain in the forecast I still got my brother up and decided to go. Knew Osuna was throwing and wanted the chance to see what he had. So after getting pulled over on the drive I finally made it.
Right when the game started the rain hit and I sat watching in a soaking wet t-shirt and shorts. Freezing my ass off we watched. After 5 innings the delay occurred and after going to have few beers and eat we came back to finish the game. Sat right behind the dish and actually got Aaron Crow and Montgomery's autographs as they were tracking pitches for the next game. After the jump is my thoughts on the game itself.
First the main one I wanted to see... Moose. During pregame he was performing the rain dance and kind of looked like a dork. My brother couldn't believe that he might be the next big thing for the royals. Once the game started he didnt dissapoint as he showed his ability to go to right field twice for 2 hits. HIs defense at third looked decent but he was hardly tested.
D-Rob- Didn't look very comfortable at the plate or when he got on base. After being walked on 4 pitches he couldn't get a read and looked lost when trying to get a good jump. In center he made one of the better plays I've seen live. Shaded towards right center he mading a diving catch towards the wall in left center. He can cover some ground out there.
Manny Pina- Probably the most impressive player that I saw. Every at bat he had he put together a nice appearance. He drew two walks where he fought off multiple pitches. He has an absolute cannon and quick release. Can see him at least being a backup catcher for us next year. Not that we use one of those in KC though. Also he has a model latino as his girl. She filmed his at bats and was watched by everyone in the stadium i think.
Osuna- Had pinpoint control and never allowed a runner to even reach 2nd base. Only went 5 because of the rain but was very impressive. He only showed 2 pitches and not sure he can be a starter up here with that. His fastball only topped out at 85 and his changeup was a devastating 71-73 so a very nice difference. Worked ahead the entire game and looked very good. He needs to develop some more secondary pitches if he wants to be a starter in KC someday.

A change-up would be a weird out pitch for a LH reliever
Change-ups are usually the preferred out pitch when facing opposite handed batters. When you think of a LH reliever, you usually think of a guy who’s good at getting out lefties, but as a change-up pitcher, I doubt Osuna profiles that way. To stick in the Majors, I guess he’ll have to be good enough to get both righties and lefties out consistently.
Thanks Rockchalks!
It all happens here. the royals came to play and so did you. more to do than you can shake a foam finger at.

Osuna
has been staggeringly (is that a word?) good.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s in AAA by June.
A lefty with excellent control….wow!
6 walks in 40+ IP’s one which was intentional.
