Wednesday Royals Links: Featuring "Legendary Scout" Art Stewart
OK, I guess I have to be this guy, but I'm tired of hearing about the "legendary" Art Stewart. I blame Posnanski.

We Royals fans don't mind taking refuge in the 1980s
I’m pretty sure it was real, but if all it is was mythologized, it still feels good enough.
Chaim Mattis Keller New York City's # 1 Royals fan!
can't wait for Joe Randa to go rogue and start drafting his family members in the 40th round

it would take a lot to get fired as a scout
although, the idea of getting paid some money to drive around, watch baseball games, and take notes would work
which means that the money sucks and the organization makes you buy your own stopwatch and radar gun and you have to do the radar gun and time players running down the line

The legend thing
Ever notice how sports teams have to have these guys? They’re like mascots, your organization necessarily has no substance unless you have a handful of guys you’ve crowned ‘legends.’ Among them has to be a really old friendly guy who may or may not have been good at something like 30 years ago. Harry Carey comes to mind.
