I generally think Tom Verducci is a bit of a reactionary, and he's got a piece in SI on why walks and strikeouts are boring. My guess he wants to go back to those Willie Wilson on Astroturf days, back when the Pirates would lead off Omar Moreno and any starting pitcher could go nine. He does make one point, though. I'd like to see the high strike called on a regular basis. Either follow the rulebook as it is or change it so the strike zone is between the batter's waist and ankles, which is what they call now.
