Huh?
I’m thinking that a more effective move would have been to dock Dayton Moore’s paycheck for making such a stupid acquisition in the first place.
A fine in the big leagues for a dropped pop-up? Anyone ever heard of something like this?
Joke - no
When I saw the headline, i seriously thought this was another satire written by a RR blogger. This is crazy, if the guy ain’t gonna catch the ball right, don’t fine him – bench him. For the love of the game guys. Let’s see if we can monetarily motivate guys!
WRONG
DAYTON MOORE HAS RESTORED ACCOUNTABILITY AND PROFESSIONALISM TO THE KANSAS CITY ROYALS AND WE OWE HIM A DEBT OF GRATITUDE. i DEMAND YOU APOLOGIZE AND STAND IN FRONT OF YOUR COMPUTER GIVING DAYTON A SLOW CLAP.
I CAN’T HEAR YOU!!

who pissed in your cheerios?
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.
People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.
Honestly- this shouldn't surprise you
If there was an actual Bush league, we would be leading it.
I once had hope...now I have Moore.
You obviously have no idea
how key he is to this team’s drive for 70 wins this season

I'm going to work under the assumption
that this is nothing more than a Kangaroo Court fine.
I think Kangaroo Court is a pretty common knowledge thing, but just in case it isn’t…teams regularly have what is called a Kangaroo Court (at least they used to). Usually a few veterans that rarely play are the “Judges, Jury & Executioner”…anyway, there is a set $$ amount for most things a player can do wrong during the course of a game.i.e. $50 for not running hard to 1st on a grounder, $25 for a pitcher walking the batter leading off an inning, $100 for a dropped fly ball…etc…
I think as salaries have exploded over the last couple decades, they have kind of gone away, but it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if teams still have them, and they are only used for egregious things
BOOM! ROASTED!
One of the lawyers here, anyway this is even allowed under the CBA?
Isn’t this kind of the equivalent of fining a guy for striking out? I have a really hard time believing the union doesn’t mind its members getting fined for poor performance.

Reading The Headline
“Royals Fine SS Yuniesky Betancourt……….” made me spit my coffee. Then I read the rest and realized “fine” was a verb, not an adjective.
I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.
