Royals Fall Yet Again, Fail To Be Inspired By Jonas Brothers

Wake me up in 2013.

Royals wasted much good pitching tonight from Gil Meche. I'm amazed by his bizarre outing. Do we actually have a good defense?

I'm not hugely upset by 128 pitches, but it isn't exactly thrilling news either, given past histories and reasonable expectations going forward. I hate the leaving guys in to get a W thing. Its a selfish thing tied to a stupid stat. But other than that, its tremendous.

And he got to stay in and lose the game.

i said it before,

but this treatment of meche seems like a fireable offense in and of itself. add in the fact that he has made a plethora of bad moves and that the team doesn’t seem to be responding to him, and i think it’s time for him to go. this team may be bad, but it’s not this bad. we keep finding ways to lose games that we could/should win.

well

it’s not the stupidest move they’ve made with Meche in the last year

assuming he's handled ok the next few starts

its not a big deal

of course, this is the royals were talking about

Worse than 128 is that he was left in to face Murphy after 127

He was lucky Murphy put the 1st pitch in play

She said "are you stupid or just apathetic?"
I said "I don't know and I don't care"

by Royal Kingdom on May 8, 2010 11:41 PM EDT up reply actions

well....

I guess it’s not the 128 that bothers me as much as the 2 walks in the 8th and still leaving him in. and then leaving him in after the base hit. baffles me

by EHIGH on May 8, 2010 11:38 PM EDT reply actions

And the fact that 128 was the first pitch to the batter

Luckily he swung at the first pitch…I think Hillman was still flabergased about his pussy ass tirade with the umpire…Meche’s pitch count was completely irrevelant to him, he was pitching for the win (god damnit!) imo.

don't forget

the fact that he was in at that point to face the middle of the line up

that's normally not a good thing when he's already thrown 120 pitches

the bonheadery with Meche

overshadows the boneheadery of moving Guillen to right field late in the game.

I dont know what the hell is going on

I don’t think anyone does

is meche even healthy? why didn’t he do surgery? whose idea was what?

by Freneau on May 8, 2010 11:53 PM EDT up reply actions

a state of confusion

is probably the best way to describe this entire team right now
kila? what’s going on? who’s the short stop? who’s the second baseman? will pena ever catch again? how much longer will trey be here? what’s wrong with bannister? is meche hurt? is soria going to be okay? chris getz? whaaaaaaaaat

Geez, this team is so shitty, I make an appearance in a post-game thread to post a link to a rejuvenating spa. I think WE are the ones that probably need a rejuvenating massage after seeing the bonehead shit the org does to us on a daily/nightly basis.

BOOM! ROASTED!

If you have no expectations you are never dissapointed

that’s the only way I am making it through. Sad that even that theory is being tested this year

Just quickly calculated Meche's FIP for this game

It was about 5.08

yes, that’s on an ERA scale.

Bannister is fine. They already posted an article about the balls being rubbed differently than the ones he threw in his warm-up. He was in the clubhouse watching hockey (WTF?) and didn’t realize the inning would go so fast (surprise!).

Just watched the end of the game again, just so I can watch the postgame with some fury. Just curious, has Feliz hit anyone this year? The kid can hit 100 on the gun, maybe he can hit Yuni tomorrow? I’d be ok with him PH in the 9th just for that possibility.

by yourbassist on May 9, 2010 12:52 AM EDT reply actions   1 recs

Another random thought. Not really surprised by Washington’s coke situation. Maybe it’d help Hilltard? Or maybe we could get some truly crazy moves like Maier pitching and truly be a funny joke instead of a privately cry sad one.

Ah, screw that. Get him hooked on weed or one of the codones

He’ll do far less damage if he sleeps through the final six innings of any given game.

I hate seeing clubhouses with CRT’s. I do AV for a living. These teams make how much money and can’t get flat panels?!

I missed this one to watch Iron Man 2

Good decision it seems. I don’t think they’ve invented a word that describes Scarlett Johnasson’s hotness. If they made a movie that was just Scarlett beating wholesale ass in tight clothing for 2 hours, I’d pay 20 bucks to see it.

Why hasn't Hillman been fired?

This sounds like a sarcastic question but it’s not. I don’t know the ownership there but it seems that any other organization would have canned him by now.

Holy... *sigh*

So, I was gone all day yesterday and didn’t get to see what happened. But, yeah, Meche finally has a halfways decent outing (other than the concerning walks) but he gets left out for 128(?!?). So much for Trey starting to learn from his biggest mistakes.

I mean, again, we had some good news. Kila started and Mitch started, tho Aviles did not. But at least Trey realized he was good enough to pinch hit for Getz in the 9th. I’m a little baffled by that defensive alignment to start the 7th. Unfortunately, I’m sure it will be a week before Kila gets to hit again since he went 0 for 3.

That’s a little out of context but it’s still a beauty.
