Twins Fan & Royals Fan coming to Town
Greetings Royals Fans. My wife and I are coming to town in the last week in June for our first ever visit to Kaufman. I'm a Twins fan, she is a Royals fan, but we both hate the WhiteSux with gusto, so this is really the perfect game for us to catch.
We won't be in town for long as we are also heading to CO to see the Rockies, so I'm not really looking for town recommendations. What I am more interested in, if you are willing, is more of the local recommendations. Are there views or spots to walk to and watch an inning that are really beautiful? Or maybe some tasty foods that we might overlook?
We will be sitting CLOSE. For my wife, we decided to splurge and sit about 2 rows behind home plate, just on the 3rd base side. I am EXCITED. We are also planning on taking a ballpark tour, but this will be the day AFTER the game, so any insight we learn will not be useful during the game we attend.
Thanks in advance for any tips. I'm really looking forward to seeing the field. It looks wonderful on TV. I'll stoop by after the game and let you all know how our experience was.

I've only had seats that nice a couple times
and that was before the Crown Seats were installed. Though I suppose if I was only ever going to 1 Royals game, I’d probably splurge too.
The view from behind the fountains is pretty good on a sunny day, you might get a little wet though.
Oh, and watch out for Sluggerrr’s Hot Dog Launcher Inning. He put out some guy’s eye last year.
I've had really nice baseball seats twice
both when my wife was a summer associate at a huge law firm… we sat in the 5th or 6th row behind the dugout once, and I spent the game absolutely terrified of a foul ball… the other time was right behind home plate behind the net
yay nets
I should say I've only legitimately had nice seats a couple of times.
I showed up to the early part of a doubleheader (2 games, 1 ticket type) and no one was there yet as the original game was the late one. So I sat in the first row behind the visitor’s dugout completely by myself. It was so lonely over there that when Alex Gordon picked up a foul ball I was the only one to toss it to, and there were no little kids for me to hand it to.
It used to be fairly easy to sneak to a good seat, particularly if you came by yourself.
I have yet to find a bad seat in the stadium
with the possible exception of sitting in the 3 rows behind where the stairs turn on the upper level because every yahoo stops there to either find their friends (if they are on the way up) or yell at them “Hey, wait, what did you want me to order you?” (if they are on the way down). Where you are sitting, that shouldn’t be a problem.
I think walking the lower level is fun, just to get all the different views, especially in the outfield.
For food, I would recommend Strouds which is out past the left field foul pole. There are bbq places at the stadium, too, but they are not any of the real KC bbq, so I wouldn’t bother with them.
If you drink beer, get a Boulevard, just because it’s the KC beer. The Wheat is my favorite, but my husband prefers the Pale Ale.
Whatever you do, DO NOT JUMP IN THE FOUNTAINS. I have a friend who ushers in the outfield, and he says every game he is asked by someone what happens if they jump in. Here is his answer:
1 – you will probably injure yourself because there is all kinds of equipment/machinery in there to make the water dance
2 – you will definitely get disgustingly dirty because they are only emptied every two weeks and people throw all kinds of stuff in there
3 – you will get arrested for trespassing
If you’re hot, just wait on the backside, because you will get plenty wet that way when the water shoots up, especially if there is any wind.
And be sure to clap nice and loud for whoever is in the Buck O’Neil Legacy seat. They have that person wave the whole time they are doing the voiceover and it’s a little awkward if no one claps for them. You’ll be close enough that they can hear you.

This really surprises me. I’m guessing alcohol is involved.

Excellent notes, thank you guys a lot!
The tip on the BBQ thing is good, because I would probably have got some, thinking that this is KC so the BBQ is going to be awesome. Also the water thing and the clapping thing, very good tips. I appreciate it guys.
I always loved that one.
