This trade makes perfect sense for both organizations now and in the long term.
With Eric Hosmer looking like a good bet to get the call early in 2012 and Jose Guillen/Alberto Callaspo entrenched in the DH spot in the near future the Royals should look for a trade that will improve the organization. Carlos Pena becomes a free agent at the end of this season and the Rays are looking for someone to fill in his spot. Ka'aihue would give them a low-cost option next year. The Royals are in desperate need of a long term solution at shortstop. With no real options in the minor leagues Reid Brignac makes perfect sense. The Rays have Zobrist/Bartlett/S. Rodriguez/Reid Brignac clogging up their middle infield right now and Tim Beckham waiting in the wings. With Matt Joyce scheduled to return from the DL the Rays will need to make a roster move to allow some room. Brignac is hitting well this season. What do you think?
