During MLB Tonight, Chris Rose interviewed Jon Heyman and one of the topics was why the Royals would want to move Soria. Heyman went through the obvious reasons that we're all aware of and then this bit:
"The original thing for them was they would trade anyone but Greinke or Butler. Now I'm hearing they just want to trade Guillen and Farnsworth and keep everybody else, so they must like their team a lot more than everybody else does."
If this is even somewhere in the neighborhood of true, it is ridiculous. Most of us have believed the Moore/Yost optimism talk is more of a result of "what else can they say" than "they really believe this." But if other teams are saying "we want to keep everybody else," well, that can't mean we're aggressively shopping half the roster. I'm not saying Heyman hearing things is the final verdict on Dayton Moore's sanity, but it's not exactly confidence inspiring. If we only want to trade JoGui/Farns, we're in worse shape than we realized. It means GMDM not only cannot fairly assess major league talent, but also has no grasp of reality. A front office of Pollyanna nitwits means another decade of laughingstock baseball. Guess we'll find out in a couple weeks.
