Jon Heyman on MLB TV...
During MLB Tonight, Chris Rose interviewed Jon Heyman and one of the topics was why the Royals would want to move Soria. Heyman went through the obvious reasons that we're all aware of and then this bit:
"The original thing for them was they would trade anyone but Greinke or Butler. Now I'm hearing they just want to trade Guillen and Farnsworth and keep everybody else, so they must like their team a lot more than everybody else does."
If this is even somewhere in the neighborhood of true, it is ridiculous. Most of us have believed the Moore/Yost optimism talk is more of a result of "what else can they say" than "they really believe this." But if other teams are saying "we want to keep everybody else," well, that can't mean we're aggressively shopping half the roster. I'm not saying Heyman hearing things is the final verdict on Dayton Moore's sanity, but it's not exactly confidence inspiring. If we only want to trade JoGui/Farns, we're in worse shape than we realized. It means GMDM not only cannot fairly assess major league talent, but also has no grasp of reality. A front office of Pollyanna nitwits means another decade of laughingstock baseball. Guess we'll find out in a couple weeks.

Firable offense
There is a moron out there (and we can only suspect Texas) who wanted Kendall and he said no?
Go away Dayton
heard this from a few directions
one of them here:

You know, I would want to hear some of the stories you’ve heard about Dayton Moore and what he’s telling teams. I love me some schaudenfreude!

Dave Cameron:
He told a contender that Jason Kendall wasn’t available. Seriously.
this was from cameron’s chat at the ASG

seriously
this wouldn’t totally surprise me, but i need a better source before i believe it. preferably a source that doesn’t think Lopez for Danks is fair.

Dave Cameron mentioned it in the Fangraphs chat as well.
When life gives you questions, Google has answers.
What i think they meant is
the Royals are only SHOPPING Farns and Guillen. GMDM has looked pretty stupid, but i think he is smart enough that he would be willing to listen to offers about other guys.
but the point is...
we should WANT to trade just about everybody else. We shouldn’t be passive in the trade market. The fact we aren’t SHOPPING almost every other warm body on the team is evidence enough that Dayton Moore just doesn’t get it.
Seriously
We can get top level talent for Soria…. I know he’s a key piece to the team, but we can get legit future super star for a guy who is a injury prone RP. :)
Coffee. The NEW Performance Enhancing drug for Sport's Writers. Just ask Ken Rosenthal.
Yeah if DM has actually said Kendall is unavailable..
..that’s simply a fireable offense and anyone saying otherwise flat out doesn’t know the first thing about baseball and ought to quit following the sport.
IF it is true.
Killing time until time kills me
It doesn't surprise me that Moore doesn't seem inclined to trade anyone
…including the most ominous veteran parts (Guillen, Kendall, Pods, etc.).
This sounds simple….but based on his own evaluations, he probably thinks this team should be competing right now and/or is probably very close to doing so. The FO can’t understand why we aren’t competing. And therein lies the problem.
“This sounds simple….but based on his own evaluations, he probably thinks this team should be competing right now and/or is probably very close to doing so. "
I don’t think that’s it—it’s more that DM wants a roster with bona fide major league players (even if they aren’t good) instead of AAAA scrubs until his kids hit KC.

Heyman probably knows what's going with the Royals
he’s got plenty of, ahem, “connections” at various levels of the organization: Ankiel, Bloomquist, Moustakas, Hosmer, Colon, Hochevar, Chen…

I can see why he's possibly reluctant to trade DDJ
He’s gone from hating him (moving him around the OF, anywhere but CF), to realizing he’s by far our best OFer (thanks Elias and the Type A talk!). If we compete next year, DM can’t trade our best OFer!
I think an OF of Gordon, Maier, and DDJ would be pretty damn good. Just need to fix SS, 2B, and C, and I think that would be a .500 team (assuming Moose at 3b, Kila at DH).
ya right KC is soooooo picking up Pods option
and probably flipping Gordon at the deadline

For the ridiculous now; it’s entertaining in its own way, and it should hasten the collapse of the Moore regime.
I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

We could trade Kendall and Pods
for Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí. Things would get real entertaining real quick. Ever see An Andalusian Dog? Really, don’t bother if you haven’t, unless you just like weird shit; it’s on YouTube. If you’re actually going to watch it you should probably drink some absinthe and smoke some opium first.

Root for other teams to do well.
I’m hoping the Rangers can do some damage…other than that I’m just rooting for DM to get fired and for Glass to have a revelation and hire someone who will at least admit that there could be something to this whole “sabermetrics” thing.

It is kinda troubling
How little roster turnover we have for a team that has sucked for four seasons.
