Soria has Yanks on NO-TRADE list
"The fact the Yankees are on Soria's no-trade list should not be read to mean he would decline a trade to New York. It likely gives Soria some leverage if a deal were struck. "

so if I'm reading that correctly...
Soria would only agree to go to New York if the Yankees gave him a new contract worth more than his existing deal with the Royals. Doesn’t make a trade impossible, but it does mean the overall cost to acquire Soria is higher than previously thought. The Yankees might be less willing to part with top-shelf players if they know they’ll still have to pay Soria once they trade for him.

he'd probably want a couple of his team options picked up
which they’d probably do without much hesitation.

May want assurances that he won't be stuck being a setup guy forever?

Mariano's arm has to fall off eventually
doesn’t it?

I wonder why not the Yankees?
And without knowing exactly, I still say “Bravo!”

That was my reaction
Usually the teams on a player’s no-trade list are small market teams and/or perennial losers (like the Royals). For some reason, Soria doesn’t want to be a Yankee. I love that.

Now we can't trade him.
He hates the Yankees. I may have a new favorite player.
It seems smart business to me
Put your limited no-trade protection on the only teams who are likely to actually ever want to trade for you. Your bargaining power is raised. Why waste it on the Pirates when there is no chance they ever try and trade for you?
I’d be willing to bet he has absolutely no problem playing for the Yankees. And I’d hazard a guess that other teams on his list might the Red Sox, Dodgers, Cardinals etc etc
Yeah, I know
But I’d like to believe that he just hates the Yankees.
Also
I’d put the Yanks on my no-trade list so that if the Royals want to trade me to the Yanks, the Yanks have to negotiate a new deal with me that pays me ONE MILLION DOLLARS!!!!

If you want to avoid making yourself more stupid
I would suggest not reading the comments on that story. It is nothing but a big, steaming pile of fail.

OK, you talked me into it. A sampling:
As far as not wanting to come to the yankees, that just means Soria’s first priority is not winning. I wouldnt want a guy who doesnt want to win on the team anyway
its unreal that the yanks are on his no trade list… i guess they win too much for his liking? and pay too much… and if you do well- adore their players too much – i mean, is soria on crack?
I bet he’s looked at how the Yankees have played with the minds of their young pitchers recently, Hughes and Joba, and decided he doesn’t want any part of that. Young pitchers die these days in the Bronx.
I bet the other 5 teams are Chicago, Texas, Atlanta, St. Louis, and San Diego. Seems like Joakim, like his boy Grienke, is afraid to go to a team where he’d have to play under a weeeee bit of pressure. P u ss y. Enjoy being KC’s only all star representative for the rest of your career.
Give them Joba no matter what, Give the Joba even if the deal fails, Just leave Joba at the airport JUST GET RID OF JOBA!!!!!!
And that’s just the first page of comments….
