More Links On The Dodger Guys
The second link ranked Pimentel as the #18 guy in their system:
Elisaul Pimentel|Currently #18-This honestly might be too low for him, as he has better peripherals than Webster, and is just a year older. However, I would like to see him repeat this dominance and command before I completely buy into his transformation. Sitting in the low-90s and touching mid-90s, he has plenty of arm to project well going forward, but questions will remain for me until he turns in a similar performance in 2011.
- Here's another recent breakdown of the Dodger system, focusing on their pitchers. Discusses Pimentel.
- And the same thing, except for catchers.
- In this Dodger prospect rating, both May and Pimentel came in as Top 15 guys.

Both debut in the 20s for the Royals? 30s?
After reading through the SBnation Dodgers comments, looks like various people will miss both of these players. No one seems to think the Dodgers got a steal (or with Pods, a caught stealing), and a few people didn’t like that trade (they were thinking they got Juan Pierre v1.2).
Overall, this has to be what we signed Pods for. Wish him luck, as he didnt suck nearly as bad as other players on our team and always seemed to try hard. Glad we got some potentially useful players out of this.
But damnit
we try to have the BEST snark.

We need to work on originality
but there is definitely MORE snark here
The irony level of the snark here
is very high.

Haven't fully decided but
I’m guessing late 20s for both those guys—a little bit higher perhaps on Pimentel.
One thing I like about what Moore has done so far this trade deadline
He (perhaps? apparently?) has insisted on getting an A-ball arm back in both trades. I can’t remember who, but one former GM I heard about had this philosophy – try to always get the other guy to kick in an extra low minors arm. Serves as sorta like the lottery – the more tickets you get, the better the odds one will turn into a future ace.

I heard somewhere that Moore always tries to get a throw in.
I wonder if it’s like dealing with the fantasy owner who agrees on a trade, and then tries to get you to throw in a “average” player at the end? Whatever, GMDM has done a solid job and will be heralded as a GM who did what he was supposed to do. Get our system going and then get us competing for championships on a yearly basis and not just a 2003 and done.

This Is Possible
But he has been outstandingly dumb in his MLB dealings. He seems to be learning. I could be imagining things.

Can we verify this?
I’m sure he’ll get a promotion at the end of this season because he’ll be out of options at the start of the 2011 season so the Dodgers will want to get a closer look at him.
If that’s the case, what happens to Brayan? This would mean we have to put him on the 40 and bring him up to start the season, right?

Talking about May.

as mentioned in the other thread
Dodgers added May to the 40-man roster after the 2007 season and then would have used three options on him in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Thus, he should be out of options.
missed the other thread.

How's this for a plan...
(it’s a bit batsh*t crazy, and there’s no way they would do it, but it’s what I would do in a video game, so there’s that. oddly enough, the real problem is that Kendall will be on the roster, which doesn’t figure into my plan.)
Put May, Pena, and Pina on the roster. Make Pena the starter, but have May catch against lefty pitchers. Have Kila DH against righties, spelling him occasionally against lefties with Pena DH’ing. Pina can spell either catcher in late innings when D matters, and maybe he proves he can handle starting since he may well hit better than May, as far as we know.

How Does That Work
With a 14-man pitching staff?

Fairly obvious B Pena's Royals days are numbered?
I think so, anyway. If the “Kendall plan” all along was for him to be a 2 year stopgap, and then mentor the backup to take over in 2012 – wouldn’t they have allowed B Pena to, you know, actually catch enough games to be mentored this year?
Just seems to me they have zero faith in B Pena – I’m sure the backup job for 2011 is technically up for grabs, but I’ll bet they view May as the frontrunner to be mentored by Kendall next season/

It definitely shows a vote of no confidence in Pena
If we didn’t know that already. Between Pina, May, Myers, and Perez, Dayton’s banking on having two solid catchers ready for 2012. Pina should be ready defensively and now May could be ready offensively. I have no idea what to think of Myers’ path and how long it will take, but nonetheless Pena is definitely not involved in the longterm gameplan.

Kendall Is The
Real pisser here. He looks no better than Brena in either half of the inning, and probably not as good in either.

I meant future wise
Since now we have two acquired C’s by Moore on the AAA roster
Natural selection
None of them are great prospects by any means, so it becomes survival of the fittest.
or death of the least fit
Whichever phrase is more apt
We have a lot of pretty decent options at catcher
Yet more than 90% of the playing time goes to the worst player of the bunch.
