Haven't seen the drunken Sluggerr cheering them on like earlier in the year, though.
At least not on camera.

Let's see if Kila hit another bomb tonight.

Moose with a double, but 1-5.
- "But Frank, that's the worst shortstop in the league."
- "That's what they keep tellin' me."
I was actually thinking about that...
It would be ideal to time everything just right so that we’re in first place in the AL Central at the time of the draft, and we draft 1 or 2 overall. It would be just like the ’08 Rays.

I have faith we can do it!
At least losing enough to get the #1 draft pick. The 1st place I have serioud doubts about
so yeah
Gordon hasn’t really shown me anything new with his bat so far. Same old stuff.
But now he’s a crummy outfielder instead of a below average 3rd baseman
Follow me on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/bhindepmo (follow me, because reloading my twitter page 40 times a day is kind of creepy)
On the plus side, he has only K'd 2 times since coming up
So, he is at least putting it in play. And he was hitting it hard tonight. Just need to get a few to fall and ………
Really?
Because he looks noticeably better to me.
Seriously, not trolling to start an argument – but if you watch his ABs objectively, he is getting in hitting counts more often, avoiding the strikeouts, and hittling line drives at an above average rate since returning. He really has been ridiculously unlucky.
Give it another 150 AB minimum before we start to draw conclusions either way

I agree with you
He has been smashing the ball since he got called back up, but it always seems to be right at someone. That luck is going to start evening out here pretty soon.
by Soria's Unibrow on Jul 30, 2010 12:39 AM EDT up reply actions
Not sure about smashing, seems like a lot of deep liners that are just looping enough
to let the outfielders get to them. Though I am impressed with his patience and contact so far.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.
People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball...Rock Chalk Talk
Here's some stats to back this up (thru 7/29)
BABIP is .209 (9 for 43), despite a LD rate = 25%. Also, HR % on FB is only 5.9% (career he is 9.0%)
Normalizing, as I recall, your BABIP with a 25% LD rate should be .330
That gives him expected +5 hits from where he is now. I’m going to assume that 1 of those 5 would have been a double. Doing all this (crude, I realize) changes his slash lines to 273/365/382
Keep in mind, I did not adjust for his bad luck on FBs, and this includes all his 2010 data, not just since he has been recalled.
I can’t wait to see him bat each night. He is going to end up being part of the solution for the future, I’m sure of it.

by philofthenorth on Jul 30, 2010 12:43 PM EDT up reply actions
I'm not sure on his arm yet.
I’m sure his arm strength is good enough, but he looks like he needs more reps. He needs to work on setting up a good angle for a throw, getting behind the ball to do so, and his accuracy. I just think his feel for that throw will take time, but he’ll get better at a quick pace.
