Around SBN: Jeremy Lin Sets Assist High In Easy Win Over Sacramento

Wilson Betemit and Zack Greinke Lead Royals to 3-2 Victory

Wilson Betemit's WPA - 0.412

Zack Greinke's WPA - 0.302

They were pretty much the story of the game.  Wilson knocks in all 3 runs while Zack only gives up 1 over the 7 innings he pitched.

In other news:

Zack looked to possibly be injured in the 3rd inning on a suicide squeeze.

Jose Guillen hurt himself running to first.  There goes the basket of balls we would get from him in trade.

A young fan interfered with a ball in the 8th inning.  It probably saved the team a run.

Wakamatsu had the home plate umpire check Soria for cheating with 2 outs in the 9th.

Good to see Zack get another win

Great game from Betemit. Guillen could have taken another step or two to avoid that double play. Eff you, Jose. Spout off about leadership some more, why don’t ya.

Thanks for the recaps ya'll.

Wish I had stayed up to catch this one. It is always really nice to win games, especially when it has textbook gut-punch written all over it like this one did.

Real shame Jose got hurt.. It will likely lead to more Betemit at-bats, not Kila ones. He might get called up but he’ll probably warm the bench.

This prompts an interesting question:

Who would we rather see, Kila or Commissioner Gordon?

by powderbluepower on Jul 7, 2010 12:56 AM EDT up reply actions

I think we see Kila...

Kila

Gordon really does need to be working on his OF defense. and we’ve seen less of Kila.

Somewhat irrelevant

When Callaspo’s better, Betemit’s gonna be the regular DH. I’m so glad they gave him a lot of time at SS in Omaha so Ned could plug him in there to get his bat in the lineup.

It's all ball bearings these days!

Zack's run shouldn't be earned, should it?

Aviles’s throwing error should account for that.

So it was just a bracelet Soria was wearing?

She thinks she missed the train to Mars; she's out back counting stars.

by KeepItCopacetic on Jul 7, 2010 12:59 AM EDT reply actions

No. What it was was mind games.

Wakamatsu was trying to get into Soria’s head, plain and simple. The issue came from the dugout, not the batter. Wakamatsu thought he had to try to get Soria out of his rhythm.

Jason Bay’s errorless streak ended today, meaning DeJesus has the longest active streak among everyday player (Randy Winn’s is longer, but he plays sporadically).

I'm really worried that we will see Ankiel instead of Kila.

I can see DM looking to having more outfield flexibility. That will make me soooo sad. Can Betemit fill in the outfield in a pinch as well as bloomy? Or…is he just IF. I know now that he is slow…so…not sure. Please NO Ankiel!! (ever)
