Unreal.

I guess we have to continue “showcasing” Guillen with another 0-4 night, until his batting average dips below .230.

You know, maybe give Butler a day off?

He’s 3 games behind the league leader in games played this year. Would a few days off really hurt him?

Dayton didn't lie

Kila was quickly brought up to the MLB after the deadline. He never said anything about playing him.

DM wants Kila to fail so that he is "right."

Being “right” is more important to DM than actually trying to make the best decision. DM’s ego won’t is significantly hindering his ability to be a GM. If I saw DM walking down the street, I’d have to restrain myself from getting really, really pissed.

If Gordon had done it, it would've been about his "lack of focus and baseball smarts. Not being a winner."

With Getz, it is about his “passion to win and intensity he brings to our ballclub. Gotta love the fire.”

Makes me sick to my stomach that what I just typed, something that would be a complete joke in most other organizations, is actually the norm in KC.

I will be actively rooting against the Royals in every single game for the rest of this year.

It’s not the stupidity of the organization that has pushed me to this, it is the willful pride shown in actively screwing over certain players while showing outright blatant favoritism to “their guys.” It’s high school shit at best. I hope the Royals lose every game the rest of this season no matter what and I hope DM loses his job and is blackballed for the game forever.

Then the reason would just be because we got rid of all of our vets. These young guys just don’t know how to play the game… You’ll never see another deadline trade.

One day I will look at this lineup

and Kendall will be in the bottom third of the order. I’m a realist, I know he’s going to play. But at some point, he has to come outta the two hole. Seriously.

But I am actually pretty happy with GMDM right now. He made lots of trades to get rid of a lotta junk, and at the same time built a hell of a farm system. Gordon and Kila are up. Mitch is getting to play. A lot of what we have been asking for is happening. They are never going to do everything we want, but I can be satisfied with where the organization is at this point compared to where I thought we were at the beginning of the season.

And the Getz-Kendall combination at 1-2 is just hilarious

We all know Kendall is awful and shouldn’t be at #2 obviously. But Getz leading off is just laughably stupid. He can’t hit. He can’t get on base. But he’s sure fast, and that’s all that’s really important. Yost is a joke.

It's kinda funny that Pods getting traded also contributed to Aviles losing playing time.

Because as you said above, Getz just HAS to be the leadoff hitter. He’s the only small, scrappy, white guy we have. Therefore, Aviles can’t get as much time at second base. However, Mike hasn’t been great this year, so I don’t know how much of a problem that is.

Yeesh

Stuff like this is why I haven’t watched ANY baseball games for 5 days (going on 6). The constant stupidity has just assualted my senses to the point that I’m not getting any joy from watching games (even ones that don’t involve the Royals). I’m still a Royals (and baseball in general) fan, but I just need a break from the idiotic predictability of “Royals” baseball.

I'm actually having more fun rooting against the Royals than I've had over the past few seasons following KC.

I mean, I root for Gordon, Kila, Butler and a few others to do well…but I’m rooting for as much faceplanting and failure as possible from everyone else and watching all these losers embarrass themselves makes me giddy.

If you want them to win and they always lose, it becomes easier to want them to lose as you are happy with the outcome.

That’s pretty much how I am right now, minus the crazed celebration for Alex’s walkoff the other night. I was lucky to even catch it, just flipped to the game to see if it was still on. Guillen, Yuni, Kendall, Getz, Bloomy, and all the rest of Dayton’s boys can suck it.

by AxDxMx on Aug 3, 2010 9:29 PM EDT up reply actions

I just want DM removed as general manager. Whatever accomplishes that...that's what I want.

DM’s stupidity isn’t going to just go away the second Eric Hosmer gets to KC and John Lamb get to KC. Even if our farm system really produces and gets us to a 85-90 win level, his stupidity could still fuck things up. DM is a scouting director who is simply too egotistical and stubborn to be a GM.

Oakland is on the West Coast

The West Coast is kind of close to Hawaii. Kila is from Hawaii. He’s too amped being so close to home.

Needs to calm down on the bench.

and another thing...exactly how bad for how long does Betancourt have to be to even BEGIN to lose some playing time.

He’s been a godawful player for over a year now in a KC uniform, yet there hasn’t been one hint whatsoever of him even possibly, ever losing the smallest bit of playing time.

the biggest problem? Sure, probably not...but he's pretty damn symbolic of what is wrong with DM...

…not to mention that, again, he’s simply an awful, awful player. Not even remotely close to even being mediocre.

Yuni won't lose playing time until his contract is up

So, since they’ll pick up his option, that means maybe we’ll see another starting SS in 2013. Now this assumes that they don’t give him a contract extension, which is a stupid assumption.

I think the trick

is to remember that this season is a wash. We’re watching for progress from the sum of our parts and really nothing else. Will Gordon keep getting better? Will Billy start showing power? Is Betemit a fluke or will he keep hitting for extra bases? We really should care what Guillen or Kendall does at all. Easier said than done though, I admit.

Place witty signature here.

by LaFLamme on Aug 3, 2010 8:37 PM EDT reply actions

Argh!

It just occurred to me that we’ll have a stretch of Maier, Yuni, Blanco, Getz.Kendall. Other than that, we should be fine.

In a bizarre move

I’m not going to jump on the kill-DM bandwagon yet. I’m actually going to blame Yost for a few more days. If Guillen isn’t out of the lineup or (better yet) off the roster within a week, then I’ll blame DM.

So Yost thinks playing Guillen over Kila is a good idea

in the same week he just signed a 2 year extension? If that’s the case, it has to be a mark against Ned.

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.
