I expect the Royals will announce that Willie Bloomquist has been re-signed within a week.

3 HR and 11 RBI?

Aren’t those Mitch’s totals for the whole season?

Went to the game tonite. Beautiful night at the park. God, I love that park.

Gordon had the only hard hit ball for the R’s all night. He smoked that ball. Weakest offensive output as a team I’ve seen all year. Jesus, Yost can make the least of his given talent (ahem) as any manager I’ve seen.

Also went to the game.

I actually saw an ad which read “Stanley is to security as the Royals are to baseball.” Seriously, fire your ad guys.
Being rather less crowded these days it wasn’t hard to find a spot along the fence out in center (one not overly crowded with boozed-up leatherlungs nor with unattended Boy Scouts) and take in the game in a fairly zen fashion. Too bad the game was so blah.
Seriously, shame about the offense. The Royals are unlikely ever to get a better turn from Davies.

Reminds me of the Chiefs preseason game in which every replay was sponsored by “Service Master Catastrophe.” It seemed apt.

Nothing the Royals do surprises me anymore

Personally, I don’t think Willie would resign with the Royals if they offered. I think he’ll go to a NL team and become the super below average utility player that he is destined to be. He will become known as “Mr. Double Switch.”

Perhaps the Royals will name an award after him – I’ll allow the people out there to think of what they could honor with the Spork.

The foibles of the ML team (and the decisions of it's manager) simply can't ruin a day

when a highly touted prospect explodes for 3 homers and 11 RBIs,

Yeah, I know RBIs are situation dependent – but still, there is something to the concept of “signature significance” as touted by Bill James, no?

I mean, really, the all-time KC Royals RBI record in one game is only seven. SEVEN! I couldn’t be more excited to see if Moose can’t fulfill the promise once held by Gordon, and we should begin to find out late next spring!

that really was a stunning performance

and the good thing is that it isn’t a total anomaly. He has been swinging the bat well in Omaha as of late. I feel positive about his chances of being an above average MLB player.
