I've talked to some people
and that’s what everyone is saying.
Everyone who bashes Kendall..... he is a damn good catcher. Very smart behind the plate. He has great BAT CONTROL, which makes him a good top of the order hitter.
I'm a proud "studs fag" since 6/20/2010... are you?

Was that around the time
when Ned announced that Pena would be allowed to start games once a week?

nah
IIRC, that’s around the all-star break
If BBRef had a fielding game log, then we could see how Kendall fielded after the break

should've known...
his swing was eerily similar to Coco Crisp’s…
Erection?

Kendall’s line after the all-star break, most of it with a torn rotator cuff

I felt like a bad person for not being able to stop smiling
but then I saw how many of you are unabashedly celebrating.
Was this his excuse for not being able to throw the ball to second base? (No, literally.)
No words can describe this feeling
I had a similar feeling when Jose Guillen was DFA’d.
aigha;oeng;oaiuhg;aoinhalglkahy … is the best I can come up with.
I'm almost embarrassed we reacted this way
Almost…
I feel bad for Kendall as a person, but as a player he sucked and injury was the only way to force him out of the lineup.
If he's had this for 6 weeks and still didn't say anything,
I have a really hard time feeling too bad for him.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.
People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball...Rock Chalk Talk
Yeah, that's the part that gets me too
He won’t come out of the lineup even if he is hurting the team. That’s pretty sad.
I definitely feel embarrassed
I mean, we don’t like the guy and hate GMDM and Yost for playing him constantly, but…well, the guy is hurt and facing surgery. Not fun. And not cool to celebrate another’s misfortune.
Even though this should keep him out for most of next season
I expect him to try to come back during spring training.
Unless I'm wrong...
100 bucks says his rehab goes "better than expected" and he convinces DM that he's ready for Spring Training..
..and then plays at a terrible level and is obviously hurt..yet still starts for the first two months of the season before going into a coma from the pain.

I am a horrible human being
I’ll have to go join some order of penitent self-flagellating monks or something to make up for how I reacted when I first heard this news (which means I’ll have to become a Catholic, I guess)…and now, hours later, I still can’t make myself feel properly regretful for another person’s suffering (although, if this really has been going on for a while, then dammit, it is his responsibility to some degree).
Meantime there’s something deeply dysfunctional about this, first with Meche and now Kendall…

“deeply dsyfunctional” indeed

Good news/bad news
Good news:
1) Kendall is out for 8-10 months
2) Chance to evaluate both B Pena and May
Bad news:
1) Kendall played with a torn cuff for 6 weeks – and the Royals (evidently) did not notice a drop in the level of his play
2) The brand new training staff, much touted in the offseason, DID NOT KNOW a catcher, who is constantly throwing the ball, was seriously injured for 6 weeks
OR
3) The GM knew he was hurt, and condoned him playing thru it anyway
Can’t wait to read what Rany has to say about the training staff. Yes, the team benefits from this injury – but to me it is still a giant black stain on the organization’s competency (AGAIN)

How about Kendall is so terrible it wasn't clear that an injury was present
His talent level masked the injury.
I would recommend Kendall delay his surgery until October
we need his mentoring skills on the bench, and they really are valuable enough skills that it would be totally worth it to delay his return by an extra month in 2011 : )

try this conspiracy theory on for size
Should we really just accept that it is a coincidence that this was announced on September 1, just as the rosters expanded, including adding Luke May?
Wouldn’t put it past Dayton Moore to have secretly condoned Kendall playing 6 weeks until the rosters expanded – would it honestly surprise anyone here if that were true?

No more telepathic mentoring for Wil Myers
He’s about to get the real deal, 100% of the time
Unless I'm wrong...
Surgery reveals extensive damage.
from the Star:
Two of four tendons were torn completely from the bone and another required major repairs.
Yikes! Also,
manager Ned Yost is already warning Kendall to curb his tough-guy impatience as he heads into a rehab procedure now projected at eight to 12 months.
So, now it’s 8-12 months. Good news. However,
Yost continues to target an April return.
Boo. If Kendall wants to play another 5 years—I don’t have the heart to tell him no team (except on run by GMDM) will want him next year or beyond—he really needs to take his time and make sure he fully recovers from this injury. Try coming back around September 1.
The quote about his goal of playing 5 or 6 more years just made me laugh.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

The T-Bones Wouldn't
Want him next year.

it makes me scared
that the Royals might actually consider re-signing him to “mentor” their young pitchers. shudder

If I Thought
For a second that Kendall would accept a MLB minimum contract to be a backup catcher, I could live with it, but I still wouldn’t like it.
