I am amazed.

Though I will not be when he’s signed in the offseason by the Royals.

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

Oh happy day!

Just a two week reprieve before he’s back in Royals blue.

You know, people are down on Willie for his -0.7 WAR performance with the Royals this season

…but in this “what have you done for me lately” society, we too quickly forget his awesome 0.0 WAR 2009.

I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at FanGraphs and Beyond the Box Score.

Harumph

A team full of 25 Willie Bloomquists would win the division title. And Murray Chass laughs at your silly “WAR.”

How could this post...

…not top the game-day post on the main page? This is genuine, bonafied, heartbreaking, top-o-the-fold news!

…How can he possibly help them? I mean, he wasn’t helping one of the worst teams in baseball. – TL

Give guys a break before the playoffs start?

He’s not even eligible for the post-season.

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

He'll be their...

…good luck charm.

they will prop him up in the corner of the dugout

and players will rub his tummy on their way to the on-deck circle

so they waited until he got his performance bonuses first before trading him?

why don’t I work for the Royals?

Holy hell

I’m actually very surprised. And I’m sure that if they go to the WS he’ll hit the series-winning grand slam. Because, you know, that’s how he rolls.

Interesting quote
He hasn’t hit much, however, and his season line now sits at .265/.296/.388.

His OBP is down (career .316), but the average is right at his career line (.264) and his slug% is the highest he’s had in a full season (up from .355 last year and .337 career). The quote is ambiguous, so they might mean he hasn’t hit for his career, but it seems like they’re saying he’s having a down year when it’s really about as good as any he’s had.

Ha

This from the link:

Among all active players with at least 2,000 career plate appearances Bloomquist has the seventh-lowest OPS, ahead of only Juan Castro, Cesar Izturis, Adam Everett, Nick Punto, Willy Taveras, and Alex Cora.

So, I take it that this is also a list of future Royals?

Punto seems destined to wear Royals blue

But He's Spunky!

The picture I would post here would not get past any filter on the planet.

I used to be an A's fan until they left town and got good.

Yeah, it's a great comparison

Nick Punto 2010 WAR: 1.9 (would be 3rd among current Royals position players, after Billy and DDJ)

Willie Bloomquist career WAR: 0.4

Punto is the kind of great defensive player Dayton Moore claims to get , but never does (Willie Bloomquist, Yuniesky Betancourt, Joey Gathright, Scott Podsednik, Rick Ankiel…)

I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at FanGraphs and Beyond the Box Score.
