Dyson was a 50th-round pick in 2006
Shows you that any pick can make it to the show.
"Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls - it's more democratic."
and in Dyson's case, almost any player period
although he DID have his first professional homer this season
I'm not a sabermetrician, but I do play one at FanGraphs and Beyond the Box Score.

That astounded me that it took so long
Wasn’t he close to a grand slam one time? It seems like that happened, but I can’t remember it.

We could
Conceivably put Dyson, Blanco and Mitch on the field at once, which has to be in the running for the lowest power outfield of the live ball era.
only when
somebody truly great<code> like Jack Z. does it
BOOM YOSTED!

Ha!
Well good for him. That’s about it from my standpoint. Maybe he’ll steals base or something.

This is sweet.
I really like Dyson. Not a future star, but should be a solid MLB defender.
I'm trying a blog. It's about the Royals of course but more of a mechanical analysis type thing about players I see. Try it and let me know what you think! Scouting the Royals
I was hoping for the longshot
Cody Clark callup. It’s unusual for them to not carry 3 catchers on the active roster in September (I think 2008 is the only time in recent memory — and Olivo was bitching about playing time so they must not have wanted to upset him).
I've heard on more than one occasion
…that Manny Pina will be promoted as soon as the TL playoffs, or NWA’s involvement with the TL playoffs, end.

that's kinda what i figured as well
but with the recent trend (in baseball — not the Royals) of awarding organizational soldiers a “thanks for the last 5+ years of your life” call-up, I was kinda hoping they’d call Clark up, even if just for a couple weeks until Pina’s done in NWA.
Would this be related
to Bloomie being unavailable for a day or two?

Dyson useful
when MLB undergoes a major rulechange, allowing free substitutions and two-way baseball.
Until then? Color me unimpressed. In the era of 12 man pitching staffs, there simply is no room on an AL roster for a defensive specialist//pinch-runner.
"We're gonna win with pitching and defense" General Manager Dayton Moore, circa winter 2009
"Where did all these Indians come from?" General George Armstrong Custer, circa summer 1876
designated runner!

The Panamanian Express!
Seriously, that bizarrre Finley experiment went on for years. The guy never had as many plate appearances as games played.

Wouldn't someone like Pujols or Morneau be the perfect September player?
along with the other months? You know, someone good.
